Official Patriots vs. Dolphins Post Game

Who, in their right minds, actually argued this?

I've seen people suggest #2 might be a better seed than #1, but I haven't seen anyone suggest that #3 would trump either.

it has been all over the board the past few weeks...it's hilarious

Hightower is an OLB pressed into MLB/ILB duty being dropped into coverage, and you're complaining because he's not turning his head? He's used to rushing toward the QB, not blocking passes.

He can't turn around in that situation, he has to catch up to the receiver.

I actually thought up till Solders injury the line was playing one of its best games of the season.

Only because of the offensive game plan, which in turn, helped the team lose.

The Patriots were all about the quick passes today. Brady doesn't hold the ball for more than two seconds. Nobody is getting open deep in that time. The team has adjusted the passing game to make the pass blocking less relevant.

The patriots have been playing with fire the whole season....it was only a matter of time before they got burnt.

It's called injuries my friend. When you lose 2 all pro defenders, Kelly was a huge loss too, our defensive backs have been in and out of the lineup, our receivers have been in and out of the lineup. Gronk is one of the top 5 receiving weapons in football, and he only played 6 games this year. Just way too may injuries. Miami was lucky to face us at our most wounded, Gronk, Dobson, Thompkins, all out, then Solder and Boyce get hurt. When your top 3 receivers left are Edelman, Amendola and Collie, then your ****ed. Our defense was giving up 15 points a game when Wilfork, Mayo and Kelly went down, and then Talib went down and has never been the same. Morons can say injuries aren't an excuse, but no team that has had the injuries we've had and are 10-4, and most likely AFC East champs. Injuries ARE most definitely an excuse.

Hell they were making excuses for Peyton when they lost last week without Welker and when we beat them without Julius Thomas.

Correct, but it's an understatement. This stuff today is outrageous and embarrassing.

This. If I see one more post about how this team "can't win because of the injuries" or "this defense stinks" . . . Blah, blah, blah.

Why do these "fans" bother to watch the games?

No not a ref thing this time. Good game by Miami. There are only so many pieces you can take away from a team. We have done pretty well considering.

Good game holding Ryan on the 4th and 5.

Good game jerking Chandler Jones by the neck of his jersey on the Pass to Wallace which Jones would have batted down had he not been jerked backwards.

Good game interfering with the Pats receivers on the final series of the game.

Yep. Such good playing

Brady should clearly join a mental ward after dropping the mic.

Brady being pissed is fine. An understandable response. The difference is he's not saying completely ******ed stuff like Amendola is a bust because he didn't catch a ball the defender knocked away or that Chandler Jones is essentially Mark Anderson.

He really is a square peg for a round hole. Drafting him didn't make sense last year and his play this season has definitely left something to be desired.

I think he's just becoming a scapegoat here. Sure he could play better but Tanny was hitting WRs all over the place, guys were open even when covered by fan favorites like Talib, Ryan, and Dennard. Personally I'm more inclined to blame the coverage failures on the guys who's entire job is coverage over a LB playing out of position. Those other guys missed more plays then Hightower.

This is a joke right? RIGHT!?!? Thompkins and Dobson HAVE to play next week.

No something happens to him in the third quarter. He was replaced by Collie at WR and Vereen as the KR, that was actually a significant loss for the offense when he went out he was actually having a very good game with 4 receptions for 42 yards and had the one big catch for 30 yards on a beautiful hook up with Brady on the sideline.

Couple of reactions from the game:
- Collins and Fletcher need to be the top two LBs the rest of the season. Seeing Spikes trying hard but hobbling and Hightower looking lost is getting tough to watch.

- Harmon needs to replace Gregory at safety. Two of Miami's touchdowns are direct results of Gregory taking bad angles, which he does every game. The first was the Wallace TD where he looked lost and the second was the 4th and 5 where he completely whiffed on stopping Clay a yard short. While he is known as a smart player on the field, these dumb plays are finally starting to bite the Patriots.

- Ridley needs to be given the ball more especially in the red zone. Without Gronk, the team needs to find other ways to succeed in the red zone. Ridley has always had a nose for the endzone as he runs very "violently" (opposite of Blount who runs very upright). Plus he is clearly carrying the ball differently since getting benched (higher and closer to the body).

- Amendola seemed to finally play his breakout game, which is big for the offense when Dobson and Thompkins get back. There is no reason to throw him under the bus for that play in the end zone. The defender made a fantastic play to knock it away.

- While Edelman and Amendola looked great, the team needs Dobson and Thompkins back badly. The final drive showed that without them and Gronk, the team has no one that can go up, fight for a ball, and make the catch consistently. Hoo-man isn't athletic enough and Boyce (while a bigger WR) is much better in space.

I watched the game.

He dropped an easy TD in the endzone.

Choker. Great contract.

You clearly didn't watch the game if you're claiming that was an EASY TD. Clearly have never played the game either.

Re: Re: Official Patriots vs. Dolphins Post Game

Your first post was bad, but you've somehow managed to outdo yourself. Congratulations.

I thought I'd be sensationalist for a game. I'm not normally as damning, but I wanted to fit in with the post game thread.

I am a little irked with Jones though.

Good game holding Ryan on the 4th and 5.

You're going to have to let this one go DaBruinz, they are never going to call holding when the receiver has his hands inside the shoulders.

Just here to say NBC can suck a fat one for missing out on an exciting back and forth down to the wire game. (I know it was protected by CBS, but the Steeler Homers should've had it in before the season).

And F--k the Jets.

He's pissed. I'm pissed too and so is half this board. The difference is we don't have to talk to the knucklehead media. We can vent here. Where does he get to vent in peace?

To be fair Brady has more reason to be pissed – none of us had Cameron Wake leveling us for the better part of the past 2 hours. :hurt:

Jones played great. Amendola dropped the game winning TD.

You're entitled to having an opinion, even if it's wrong, but to freak out on Amendola after what he contributed today...it's a little overboard. Just my opinion.

Amendola needs to make that catch plain and simple. It wasn't a choke, but average NFL WRs make that catch more than 50/50. Santonio Holmes or Boldin make that play 99/100 and they aren't elite WRs by any stretch.

Help~Why was Josh Kline put in?

The UDFA from I believe Kent State was put in for LG when Mankins filled in for an injured Solder...and Kline started making one mental error after another, causing Brady to get hit hard and the offense knocked out of rhythm. It was bad.

Can someone tell me why Cannon wasn't put in at LT and Svitek at RT and keep our bloody All-Pro Mankins in the position he normally plays? Is Svitek injured?

Last year we were able to send in guys like that, players like Nick McDonad, and they played admirably. For years, really.

But this Kline kid may look the part but he is in need of _a lot_ of coaching. Come on, Dante!
