Somebody Is Gonna Have To Back Up a Brinks Truck to Edelman's Home Next Year

Not as good overall as a receiver as Welker, but Edelman just makes plays. Sort of reminds me of Troy Brown in that sense.

I hope he decides to stick around. We have a lot more tied up with Amendola than some people feel he deserves at this point. I'm going to reserve judgement until maybe next season. He's playing through a nagging injury right now and his full explosion is just not there right now. It may not be back until he has real time to rest, which will likely be in the off season. I'm not giving up on him so quickly.

With all that said, Edelman has been an unsung hero this season. This team would likely not be 8-3 without him playing like he has, especially early on when things were at their worst. Did we forget that performance against the Jets on TNF? The guy was unstoppable. The Jets could do nothing even though they KNEW the balls were going to continue to go to Ed. He visited a few teams before and decided to return. There is obviously something he likes about being in NE. Hopefully what it is will keep him around a little longer.

Let's not go too far here . . . ask Sterling Moore how much coming up huge on a huge stage is worth.
NFL teams don't generally pay you a lot of money for getting burned and then having the guy who burned you be stupid enough to not put the ball away so your desperation swipe at it works.

Best game Edelman has ever played as a WR.

Fixit Danny is a soft overrated player

I'm sorry, but after the first game of the year what you just wrote here can not be described as anything other than completely ******ed.

He needs to be re-signed, in fact he would be my #1 or #2 priority on offense in the off-season. #1 probably be finding a #2 receiving TE. I would re-sign him for the sheer fact that he is a good punt returner.

Do they really want to go through the process of finding another punt returner?

The question is how much of a role and how much compensation Edelman will be offered elsewhere. As was the case with Woodhead, I would like to keep Edelman.

However, we may be looking at a Woodhead situation here. Edelman may be perceived to be worth more to others. After all, we have Edelman's replacement already on the team in Amendola.

Going forward, we have Dobson, Thompkins, Amendola, and Boyce.

Amendola cannot be counted upon at this point to return punts or play emergency CB or coverage on ST's.

Edelman is not just a WR.

Roster space-wise, Edelman is the anti-Danny Aiken.

Not forgetting TJ Moe who is just lacking some top end speed. He is however, an accomplished small white guy receiver.

I'm sorry, but PF2 only takes the last hour into account when judging players, anything before that is irrelevant.

Hate to say it, but the team that could use Edelman the most may be the Jets. I could see them overpaying him a bit to take him away from the Patriots.

Edelman has too much self respect to play for the Jets.

Edelman is now my favorite player. Guy is just a baller, plain and simple--not to mention a tough SOB. It's obvious the guy's just a natural at football--he'll excell anywhere you put him, kind of like Welker was in college and most of his professional career.

Loved the post-game interview where he sounded like he's been playing professional football for as many years as Tom Brady. Bigtime kudos to Belichick for that draft pick.

Edelman has been my favorite for the last 3 or so. I charge no fee on this bandwagon, the more the merrier.

Wish he had managed to pull off the hat-trick so that we could have won in regulation but the pass was just a bit off.

Lets not forget that he was the #1 target early in the season when everything else on Offense was caving in too.

I'm going to give up my driver's seat on the bandwagon and ride shotgun on the Brinks Truck.

the lions and colts would be the top two spots for him IMO luck has no one to throw to and irsay may pay a lil more just to take someone from the pats and the lions could use a slot guy

Yes, I "forget" guys like Moe and Harrison until they actually play.

Not forgetting TJ Moe who is just lacking some top end speed. He is however, an accomplished small white guy receiver.

The lions and colts are certainly two good choices.

Mystifies me why people demonize players and want them cut. We're much better If Amendola gets back to the form he started the year with. Also, love Edelman, but i don't want to depend on his health either.

Injuries are rampant in this league. The more good players in their rhythm, the better.

The question I would have is what is his level? If you took his career totals and averaged those numbers over a 16 games season his level would be 74 receptions for 677 receiving yards, 9.1 yards per reception and 2-3 touchdowns a season. If that is his level than great and so be it, clearly that level is not worth $5 million a year but we’re here now so lets take what we can get, if you’re projecting a different level I would be curious to know what it is and how you came to identify it.

This is getting tiresome with everyone focusing only on the WR duties of this Swiss Army Knife.

Do punt returns exist in football?

Does special teams coverage?

Does the fact that he can very competently play slot CB?

As I wrote earlier, this guy is the Anti-Danny Aiken.

I think you are both talking about different people. Brady6 is talking about Amendola.
