Bucs place Doug Martin on injured reserve

Things can’t get much worse down in sunny Tampa.

Doug Martin will miss rest of Buccaneers' season - NFL.com

I really hope Belichick is thinking of some way to swindle his pal Greg Schiano out the 1st overall pick, maybe he can convince him Ryan Mallett is a stud and we can draft Clowney

I know we've had a thread on this before, but I'd trade out of the number 1 pick if we had it, you could get a ton for it (look at the Redskins-Rams trade, they got like 3 1st rounders).

Anyway, the Bucs will win at least 1 game, they've not actually been THAT bad this season.

Florida football, what a clusterfug. Miami, Tampa, Jax. The Dolphins have the only wins among the three, and may be the most dysfunctional!

Go Seminoles, if you are in Fla, I guess?

Stop bullying the Florida team

Knowing how BB operates, he'd take those 3 x 1st rounders, and trade down for 9 late rounders, ending up picking no good scrubs in the late rounds.

It's about time. I think somebody would have to lose their job if he was allowed him to play again in a lost season.

Mallet a 2 and a 3 for the Bucs 1.

We can dream, can't we?

Martin is a good player. I like him. But just because 1 RB goes down doesn't mean that Tampa's season goes down the toilet. Football is a team game.

Sure I'd like Tampa's 1st round pick. But what would it take? They probably don't want to give that up if they feel they are still in 'rebuild' mode.

That is true. Their record being 0-8 does scream plunged down toilet however.

As far as the pick goes it will never happen, I was making light of the fact that Belichick has worked Greg Schiano out of Talib and Blount two relatively productive players not much compensation as well as adding Chris Jones via a waiver claim from Tampa. Schiano clearly isn’t the best decision maker in terms of personnel.

To me, it seems like the locker room is Schiano's biggest problem. I think a good portion of his personnel decisions were influenced by the locker room issue. There is much that fans do not see.

Well in that case we should scheme to poach underrated players from his roster rather than target his draft picks.

That's because he sucks so bad. Have to hand it to you guys, you have been saying just how bad a GM is for over 10 years and his track records bears that out. This team SUCKS and hasn't achieved anything since Pete Carroll left. It would be one thing if they had actually won championships and consistently had a winning record year in year out, then you guys would just look like a bunch of incredibly negative a-holes who know absolutely nothing about football, but given the constant failure this team has been and his patheitc win/lossi would have to say that you guys are simply prescient. Another awesome post from you, you're the man.

And there is a good amount of talent on that team, somewhat like KC the past few years. If Belichick can snag Vincent Jackson and get him to re-do his deal (pipedream), or one of their DL (pipedream) then that would be great, but i won't hold my breath.

There is a lot more to it than the fact that those three players have worked out with the Patriots.

Talib was about to become a free agent and it was obvious that he would not be returning. He was reviled in the community after multiple incidents, serving a suspension, and frankly he was playing quite poorly with Tampa Bay that season.

In Tampa Bay Blount was terribly inconsistent, fumbled too often (9 times in his first two seasons), ran too high, and was reportedly very unhappy about losing his starting job to Doug Martin. He was scheduled to make $1.75 million, which was way too much for a guy that had only rushed for 151 yards the previous year.

Schiano and Domenik probably felt it was better to get what they could for those players rather than risk having them be negative distractions.

Chris Jones was waived by Houston as well, and was a late draft pick; nobody here would even know who he was if not for unforeseen season ending injuries to two other players (Wilfork and Kelly). With McCoy and Spence the Bucs were fine at DT; their problem is at DE. At the time he was waived all Tampa Bay's DTs played well (against the Jets), but in that game they were thin at FB; Jones happened to be the odd man out as they needed to sign another FB due to an injury. He was there for such a short time (one week) that Schiano, the DC and line coach probably saw so little of him that there was nothing to really go on to make a case for keeping him.

This was the right thing for Tampa Bay management to do. It's clear the team isn't going anywhere this year. Let your star rest up.
