Still trying to understand why Benard was let go...BB wasn't smart on that one.

Not sure who you're referring to here. Rocky Bernard perhaps? If so, he's still available. No one else seems interested in him either so not sure how exactly how one could evaluate whether it was a smart or dumb move since he hasn't been playing.

But if you really think he's a player, hey, he's a phone call away.

The injuries this season have been just brutal.

Tommy Kelly had a setback this week during practice.

I don't question coaching staff decisions too much, particularly with injury handling--but my opinion is that it would have been awful tough for Kelly to be limping noticeably on Thursday in the locker room, then have suddenly gone to being able to practice several days later; which is what was attempted.

For all we know, they may have already known that it was pretty severe and just tested him this week in practice to see if he'd be able to come back at all this year.

Honestly when he was injured in the Bengals game I thought he blew out his knee it just had that look to it, then when he tried to come back I thought that he had avoided this type of outcome, I am with you if I had to guess when your 32-33 years old playing defensive lineman in the NFL you try and play through it, I think we saw that both with him and Wilfork this season.

the espn story implied he still has a couple weeks to go before he is totally healthy to hit the game-field. Pats needed IMMEDIATE help - Soap fit that bill muh better.
Ratliff also has that whole DUI thing hanging out there too; who knows what GoToHell might do with that if he was a Pat.

Interesting piont (to me anyway) about this transaction is that they ACTIVATE an OG to fill his spot on the 53. So i guess they are good w/ what we have w/ Soap in mix on DL.

It balances out: Sopoaga was the replacement for Vollmer. So at the deadline they replaced an OL with a DL, and now they replace a DL with an OL.

This loss might hurt the most out of all the iRed players. The vince loss was made up for by sopoaga. Vollmer got replaced by cannon, a capable OT. Who replaces kelly?

Had a feeling it was bad news when he missed Friday after being limited Wednesday and Thursday. Was hoping it was just maintenance though.

Good thing Sopoaga was brought in. Looks like a rookie or rookies will have to contribute significantly at DT this year. That was definitely not on the radar at the start of the season.

Well, that sucks. He must have re-injured his knee at practice. You don't go from practicing on Wednesday and Thursday after not practicing for three weeks to IR if it was an existing condition.

I think they are unrelated. Kelly practiced for two days after Sopoaga was traded. I don't think they expected to put Kelly on IR when they traded for Sopoaga. His coming to New England just softens the blow.
