Stephen A Smith concedes that Brady is better than Rodgers

about time.

To be fair, he didn't come out and outright say Brady's better. Just that he's unbelievable and clutch. He'll never publicly acknowledge it, but it's the truth either way.

Brady is the better Quarterback.

In 2007 if the pats won the Super Bowl, it would have been awesome. But if Brady and this team wins it all this year, this would ultimately top what the 07 team/season could have been. I know its only week 7, but if this team can do it all, Brady will immediately be crowned the best ever, and it will all start from week 6's historic Sunday game.

If the Patriots do indeed win the Superbowl no one will deny Tom the GOAT status not even the level headed hardcore Manning lovers. Even the media knows that Brady, without any star WR and playing with rookies, is the best QB in the league.

mvp is probably going to manning, but seriously where would this team be without tom? 5-1 is an amazing achievement so far

Let manning have the league MVP, and Tom the Super Bowl MVP. I always like it that way

I'm shocked that people even care what Stephen A Smith says.

Seems like there's always someone in line to be anointed as the next on the Brady-Manning pedestal. Rodgers has obviously been an excellent quarterback for several years now. But still no one has done it consistently (sorry Irsay) over as many years and with such a varied cast and out in the cold (sorry Brees) as Brady has.

Slight tangent:

I saw this teased on Reiss's blog today:

Lack of deep-pass success hurting New England Patriots' offense - ESPN

Brady ranks 24th in NFL passer rating (79.5) and 15th in Total QBR (52.7) through six games. He ranked second in both categories from 2006 through last season. His 6.2-yard average per pass attempt is a personal low through six games of any season. The question is pretty clear: Are Brady's struggles really all about the help, or is this a diminished QB?

To better understand what has happened to the Patriots and where they are headed, I enlisted a recently retired NFL quarterback for a run through the coaches' film. We discovered how deep this offense's problems run.

Curious if anyone here has ESPN Insider access and can shed light on what the rest of the article says. I'm skeptical that it's worthwhile, but curious if it really is an in-depth and quality assessment of the Pats O.

self made personality that is loud, opinionated and boisterous with an agenda.

...isn't that ESPN in a nutshell. Fits their business model perfectly.

Rodgers has better numbers and has put them up in worse weather, if he keeps it up for enough time and gets another ring or two he'll be thought up as the better qb.

Just as dumb as crowning Manning over Brady due to a 6-game stretch to begin the 2013 season. These players have long careers, yet these sports analysts are unable to see the big picture but would rather focus on "what is this guy doing right this second." I agree that Brady is better than Rodgers, but certainly not because of the last pass Brady threw versus the last pass Rodgers threw. I think Brady is better simply because Rodgers takes too many sacks and most of the time scrambling is actually a bad thing in a Moneyball way. I believe the perfect NFL QB is a near-pure pocket passer ala Brady and Manning.

This sums up my feelings perfectly, and is well worth repeating.

That show he is on is more scripted and phony than anything Jerry Springer or Vince McMahon ever dreamed of.

How many of those sacks are due to breakdowns in protection? Rodgers tries to stay in the pocket if possible.

I'm surprised Stephen A. thought Rodgers was better than Brady. I have a lot of respect for Stephen A. and think his knowledge of sports is one of the best out there as are the rest of the fine, unbiased people who work for ESPN.

Rodgers was terrible on Sunday, yes he had issues with injuries but he fumbled like 3 times needlessly

Wow, credit the pats defense for this confession.

After all, if the Saints get a game ending first down on their last possession, then the pats lose and the lasting image of Brady is of him throwing the game ending pick.

Skip Bayless already knows this/says Brady is the best in the league, every week
