These injuries are bad

Here is my surprisingly optimistic view on these injuries:

Regarding those injured tonight...

* Connolly left the game early with a concussion, but I don't think he has much of a history. Wendell had a concussion last week and played this week, so I expect a similar pattern to follow.

* It is reported that Talib sustained a hip flexor injury, and that it isn't too serious. Given how the Pats play the Jets, Dolphins and Steelers next, I think they can afford to let him rest through the Bye Week - That's 4 week recovery time.

* Amendola was KO'd before he even hit the ground, which is scary. I am seriously wondering if it would be in HIS best interests to simply be shut down for the year and try again next year. He was quite invisible tonight before the injury.

* Mayo is perhaps the most worrisome, to me anyway. He left the game in a sling, implying some sort of structural damage. Hopefully it's just a shoulder separation and he can return after the Bye, but if anything is broken then I don't know if this defense can survive without him AND Wilfork and POSSIBLY Talib.

On returning players...

Armond Armstead, are you ready? He is eligible to return this week and if he can give anything that would be a much needed boost for this DL.

If Amendola is out for a prolonged period of time or is IRd, Mark Harrison is a big rookie who is also eligible to return.

Shane Vereen will be back and ready to go in week 11, they can get by until then without him... I hope.

The big question is still Gronk. If he can come back this season, red zone won't be such a problem with this team. If he isn't back by week 11, then this offense is truly in serious trouble.

A lot of things to monitor for sure.

WHAT A GAME..WOWOWOWOWO

But now: The injuries on D are bad. Mayo and Talib mainly. Amendola has a serious concussion that could take god knows how many weeks

Good news is we can lose every game leading up to the bye and still enter are second half with a winning record at 5-4. This team has proven capable of overcoming everything other than mother nature.

I honastly wouldn't be surprised if the pats put gronk on IR in a week or 2 if he still isn't playing. The players in the locker room are sick of it

Re: Re: These injuries are bad

Talib was out with a hip injury last year... Right?

Mayo, Talib, and Wilfork are the best players on the defense. One might say the best players BB ever had in NE at their respective positions. It'd be a huge blow to lose Mayo and Talib for an extended period of time.

That hip has given him trouble throughout his career, it must be the one he keeps his gat on..

I think he will be fine overall.

part o' the game cupcake

I really wish they had a bye right now. Normally I hate bye weeks but this team could really use it now.

.....and you know this how? ..... you believe that crap report a day ago?

The players COULD be aggravated from reporters bugging them about the Gronk situation but animosity against Rob is pure speculation without fact.

Not so fast.......you can't tell me the 53rd man can ever be anywhere near as good as Gronk coming back........even if it is December first.

RT @MikeGarafolo: He'll go through the battery of tests but Pats CB Talib not believed to have suffered a severe hip injury at this point.

Hopefully good news for Talib.
isn't this what he had last year?

If the reports are true (pretty sure they are now based on what Aikmen said tonight) and players are getting sick of it or it's becoming a distraction...you think they will let it continue into the playoffs?

What if Andrews says he is clear next week and gronk says he needs another week..then he would have really lost the locker room. But hopefully it won't go down that way

I was at the Funtime in foxboro........what did aikman say?

Trade for a CB, again? We're really thin.

FWIW, the little burrito turd (Ray Rice) had the same injury as Talib, but played the following game.

We can beat the Jest, Steelers and Dolphins without Talib/Mayo imo. That takes you to the bye 8-1. Hopefully by then Talib, Gronk, Vereen are all back, with Kelly and Armstead back sooner. If we can keep the bulk of these guys healthy for the rest of the year and get Mayo/Amendola back going into the postseason we will be fine.

i think we'll be ok without Talib for a few games since they are against bottom feeders like the jets, dolphins and steelers. but mayo's injury is trouble some. he's in a sling - maybe just a separated shoulder? i'm worried he has a torn labrum (not that i'm an expert or anything) but if so he could be done for the year ala Mark Sanchez.

With how bad Mayo's looked, I think I'd be okay if him, Kelly, and Talib came back after the bye, that Carolina game is 5 weeks from now. Maybe even can pull 6 weeks and wait until the Denver game, but would be nice to have them before. Judging by our next 3 opponents, 7-2 is very realistic even without them until the bye and 8-1 is quite possible. Amendola I have no hopes for, that was a tough hit and I'm sure anyone would have trouble coming back from that but the story hasn't changed with his luck/history with injuries.

Just praying Brady doesn't get put on the shelf the way the pass protection has been.

I am just so uneasy seeing Talib fling down his helmet in frustration, obviously knowing he is out of the game. Fear I have: did Talib's anger hint at a more serious injury that will sideline him for long? I hope I am wrong.
