What do you think, coach?
I guess it starts with how we think their O will attack. Gotta believe they will test the middle and then mix in TE seams.
I like our secondary against their WR's but Sproles is my bigger worry than Graham. I think the Pats will be more inclined to let them checkdown and if they do play cover 2 and Brees sees it, the RB in the flat is the safest option.
I also happen to think that Brees and Payton can get impatient at times and force things so I'll look and hope for a McCourty pick (plus he's due).
How much blitzing do you think we'll see?
If they are ok against the run, then I'll be satisfied.
Limit the big plays, make them drive and dig in when they get in the red zone and limit their TD's. Holding the Saints to 24 points would be success in my view. Can the offense match? We may need a big Edelman punt return.

edit: this is a Gronk free post

I am interested to see how our defense plays versus one of the best offenses. Although, if we continuously go 3 and out on offense, then it will be harder to judge.

Here's the thing. The Saints have an offense that is similar to the one we've been seeing for the past several years. An offense that is very good at doing what it does. An offense that is creative and has talented skill players and is led by an accurate and skilled decision maker.

You don't stop that offense. You don't overly blitz it. The only thing you can do is play very soundly. You make them make 10-15 play drives in order to score. You have to pick your spots very carefully when you do blitz or try to suck them into a trap coverage.

The Saints are going to be in the redzone a minimum of 6 times this afternoon. No doubt about it. For the Pats to win they are going to have to limit the scoring so that 3 of those trips yield only FG's, 2 TDs, and a turnover. That would be 23 points and an a excellent job by the D.

On offense, I doubt we will see the hurry up only very rarely and probably not until the 2nd half. We will have to run the ball effectively and creatively. We will need at least on defensive TO deep in Saints Territory, and we will have to pass the ball with much more effectiveness than we saw last week.

IF we do do all that I can readily see us getting the 24-30 points necessary to win this game. BTW - we will likely need a big ST's play as well.

Personally, I care less about the win and more about see the offense back some significant progress. Give me a close competitive game, and I will be fine regardless of the results.l

Lol. Love the thread title. I too value Ken's input and always enjoy his game analysis!
