DAlton is below average.
Take away Green like they did Jones
Give Brady time in the pocket. (cincys D is much better then ATL)

But i am more confident in this game then the ATL game

I thought you said this was an early look at the Bengals? Reads more like "why we're going to win."

I know we all love to poke fun at the Bengals and call them the Bungles but this is a team that's been to the playoffs two years in a row.

On offense they have AJ Green, another top flight WR. His play style is a bit different than Julio Jones though so it will be interesting to see how we combat him. AJ Green has a gigantic catch radius and is very acrobatic.

Greshman and Eifert is a nice TE duo. They both help out in the run game, too.

Giovani Bernard isn't a very well known name yet but he looks well on his way to becoming one. He has the looks of a dynamic, three down RB. Every week he's taken more and more carries away from BJGE.

Sanu, my WR binkie from a year ago and for some reason the only Rutgers player we didn't draft, looks to be shaking off mental issues and playing pretty solid. Another big body.

Dalton isn't below average. He is average and slowly progressing. Kind of reminds me of Matt Schaub.

Yes, the Bengals lost to the Browns last week but that is a division game. Imagine if people wrote us off just because we lost to a team in our division?

Their front seven is stout against the run and they have some DTs that can make moves inside. Geno Atkins is dominant. They have big, big DEs. Getting the run game going early is going to be both important and hard to do. Burfict is a more athletic version of Spikes. He's very downhill and nasty. Leon Hall is a great corner. Safety is about their only big weakness on defense. Would be a nice week to have Gronk back. Jordan Cameron had a big game against them last week.

I'm looking forward to another good game.

The Bengals offense has strength where the Patriots are weakest. They've got 2 pass catching tight ends. They've also got Sanu and Bernard, with 16 and 12 catches, respectively. That could prevent the Patriots from using a safety to double Green the way they were doubling Jones.

Taking away Green like we did to Jones is obvious but is exactly what we need to do.

let the TEs and Dalton beat you..just don't let AJ Green beat you

I would LOVE Dalton to turn into a Schaub

While they might prove to be a tougher test than the Falcons because of the perception of their defense and better overall line play, however, the blueprint on how to effectively attack and defend them is already there.

They should easily be 1-3 if not for a epic choke job on the behalf of the Packers. They're a team lacking any sort of identity right now. Inconsistency has been the theme for them to start the season. They're a team trending downward, while the Patriots are surging. That's a recipe for disaster.

Against Cleveland's exotic defensive schemes, they couldn't move the ball or score points in any way against the Browns. Once Haden shadowed Green, the Bengals offense was essentially nonexistent. Talib has already proven to be as good in coverage this season as just about anyone in football right now. I expect that to continue against A.J. this week.

Take away Green from Dalton, and he goes from average to borderline abysmal. Their biggest advantage on offense against the Patriots in theory should be their multiple TEs and Gio Bernard, however Dalton is not the sort of QB who can fully utilize his available weaponry to assault on an opposition weakest points. His inaccuracy and poor decision making for a third year starter attests to that.

If Amendola and Gronkowski are available, the Patriots based on their strengths and principles should have no issues beating the Bengals decisively.

Michael Johnson - Geno Atkins - Domato Peko - Carlos Dunlap

That might be the best Defensive Line in the NFL right now. Brady is going to have trouble with that defensive line, and we won't be able to run all over them.

They have a couple good Corners and Iloka at Safety is pretty good too. Burfict at MLB is an intimidator and run stuffer.

Dalton, however, will hold this team back like Schaub holds the Texans back. He's one of those QBs that is good enough to beat bad teams, but doesn't come through in big games.

I think it will be a low scoring game. A defensive TD and "who makes less mistakes" will decide the winner. Watch out for former Patriots Brandon Tate as a kick/punt returner too.

This is a game where Gronk is going to be needed, the Bengals have a decent pass rush and the team will need Gronk to not only catch a quick pass, but block as well.

Don't let that shabby showing in Cleveland Sunday fool you,This isn't your Grandaddy's old Bungles....this team is pretty good and probably the AFC North Division champion by January.

I would expect a decent game from BJGE as well going up the middle on a suddenly very weakened area in the Pats defense.

Expect a high scoring game and potentially a season early matchup of an AFC Divisional round game in January.

Expect a high scoring game

If that happens, it wont be close. The Bengals will have to run the ball down the Patriots throats to win the games inside the game, like time of possession and field position. They aren't going to be putting up a lot of scores on this defense.

THREE PLAYERS TO KNOW, OFFENSE
1. Wide receiver A.J. Green. Just a week after facing Julio Jones, the Patriots secondary gets a chance to square off against the one receiver selected ahead of Jones back in 2011. Since being drafted fourth overall, Green has been a touchdown machine for Cincinnati, posting 21 in his first two-plus seasons. The 6-foot-4, 207-pounder has terrific speed, exceptional hands and can run the full route tree. The Bengals love to let him use his leaping ability in the red zone and he has the full trust of quarterback Andy Dalton.

2. Running back Giovani Bernard. The exciting second-round rookie out of North Carolina has taken the Bengals' backfield by storm in recent weeks, cutting into the workload of former Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Bernard is an explosive and shifty 5-foo-9 back who catches the ball exceptionally well and will regularly make defenders miss in the hole. Green-Ellis is still very much a part of the Bengals' running back rotation, but Bernard already has proven that he’s a star in the making.

3. Quarterback Andy Dalton. There are split opinions on Dalton. Many will point to his win total and the fact that he has reached the playoffs in each of his first two seasons as indicators that the Bengals have the right quarterback to lead the franchise. But the eye test suggests an inconsistent performer who some believe is closer to a game manager than an elite signal-caller. For now, Dalton is the go-to guy under center.

THREE PLAYERS TO KNOW, DEFENSE
1. Defensive tackle Geno Atkins. There may be no more underrated player around the league than Atkins, a recent recipient of a huge contract extension and a 2012 All-Pro. Atkins, who generated 12.5 sacks last season, offers the complete package as an interior force, as he is formidable against the run and can rush the passer with an impressive combination of quickness, power and relentless pursuit. The Georgia product will draw the attention of the Patriots' interior line all day.

2. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap/defensive end Michael Johnson. Both of these young defensive ends got paid this offseason, though in different ways. Johnson was the recipient of the franchise tag that entitled him to an eight-figure contract for this season. Dunalp, similar to Atkins, was handed a lucrative extension that reaffirms he is a major part of the Bengals' defensive plans. Zimmer will generate pressure with his schemes, but these two bookends possess a nightmare for offensive tackles with just their skills. Sebastian Vollmer's would be a major boon for the Patriots' offensive line.

3. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict. Undrafted after an underwhelming combine and pre-draft process in 2012, Burfict quickly made the Bengals look wise for investing in him by having one of the best seasons among any rookie defenders. He’s off to a great start for the Bengals again this season. He leads the team in tackles and added an interception during the team’s season opener. A capable player against the run and the pass, Burfict quickly has immersed himself as a centerpiece for the Bengals' linebacker group.

NOTES: Starting cornerbacks Kirkpatrick and Leon Hall were each inactive in Week 4 and have been dealing with injury issues lately. ... The Bengals have an enviable two-tight-end package centered around a pair of first-round picks: Jermaine Gresham (2010) and their top choice this year, Tyler Eifert. ... Left tackle Andrew Whitworth has battled injuries in the early goings this season, but he’s back in the lineup now. ... A familiar face has transitioned smoothly to a new AFC North team, as James Harrison dropped the black and yellow of Pittsburgh for the tiger stripes in Cincinnati.
Getting to know the Bengals - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

When I was watching "Hard Knocks" earlier in the season, was impressed by the amount of talent that this team has... but not confident that their coaching staff can pull them together into a cohesive force...

What concerns me most is the two TE offense.. but this D knows about 2 TE offenses...

I don't normally say this type of stuff, but.....if Talib goes back 2 back weeks, shutting down both Julio Jones and AJ Green....pay the man!

Also who do we think is better between Jones and Green?

Megatron?

The Bengals' TEs are overrated. In four games, Gresham has 18 catches for 181 yards (45.5 yards a game) and no TDs. Eifert has 12 catches for 159 yards (39.75 yards a game) and no TDs. And Eifert got 61 yards on one play (against a mediocre Steelers' defense) which means he has had 99 yards on 11 catches for the rest of his first four games.

It doesn't mean that their TEs won't have a good game vs. the Pats, but their TEs certainly have not been a strength of their team thus far this season. Their passing offense is totally built around AJ Green, he has 27.6% of the receptions, 30% of the receiving yards, 60% of the receiving TDs for the Bengals.

You shut Green down and you shut down the Bengals passing offense. That's what the Browns did. They held Green to 7 receptions for 51 yards and no TDs. And Green has only had one spectacular (or even very good) game which plays into the Bengals' 2-2 record.

Remember that part of the reason Gonzales was so effective is that Matt Ryan threaded the needle. Dalton, not so much. In contrast, the Bengals have a run game. Can we stop it?
Biggest worry is Bengals DL stopping the run and getting to Brady.

Megatron?

Now I know Calvin Johnson is called Megatron, but I didn't know Jones or Green was either, because other than that I dunno why you would bring him up.

I asked a legitimate question asking who was better between Julio Jones and Aj green...2 receivers we happen to play in back 2 back weeks, that are arguably 2 of the best in the game, and you mention "Megatron" a nickname, for a receiver we fortunately won't see this year.

Now knowing that, why would you bring up "Megatron?"
