Matthew Slater’s Unsung Impact

Slater is the best special teamer in the NFL. Guys are just going to have to step up for him while he's out. It's a downgrade no matter who it is.

Another very unfortunate injury for sure. Slater is a proven leader on this team, and championship teams are always made up of core guys like these who contribute much more than the boxscore shows.

Hopefully it is closer to the 4 week mark than the 6+ week mark, and we can get him back asap. I suppose the only positive spin with any of these injuries is that maybe they occurred early on in the season--but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't trying hard to look for something good with that statement.

Nate Ebner's time to shine

I think I found the moment after the Jets game where he discovers his hand injury:

While BB talks, he looks at his hand as if it is a foreign object:

Luckily, his absence was not felt yesterday. Allen did decent enough on his punts and Gost booted all of his kickoffs for touchbacks.

They should put Bequette on the kick of return team. He culd put it on his resume.

[I kid, since he actually got in for a few plays yesterday].

I would say that a perennial pro bowl player and the highest paid in the league at his position is not unsung.

Oh yeah?

Name ONE song about him?????

Yeah....thought so.

Well, I might as well add something to this thread after the lame bump...

Brandon, Whaley, and Marrone talk 2013 Bills
Doug Marrone said:
When you look at these teams and these elite special teams, sometimes people lose sight of that phase of the game. They see the core players on offense, they see them on defense, but just this past week when you look at New England and you look at a player like (Matthew) Slater, he is a special teams killer. He is a great player that plays teams.

Dude's a ****** menace, enough said.
