The OFFICIAL Patriots vs. Bucs Post-Game Thread

BTW, based on my remedial math and depending on the outcome of the Raiders/Denver game tomorrow night (Oakland had given up one less point than the Pats through two weeks and most likely will give up more than two tomorrow night), the Pats will have the #2 scoring defense in the league after three weeks. Only the Seahawks have been better. And that included the fumble by Ridley that was returned for a TD.

I know the Pats have not faced the best offenses, but that is still pretty good after three weeks.

As I recall, I've claimed this team's floor is higher than 8 wins with a healthy Brady, so why would I want the team to go 8-8?

My issues with the receivers were the health of Amendola (I'm already proven right about this one and don't need the team to lose games for that to be so, so claiming that I'd want them to lose games for this reason makes no sense) and the trading away of Welker (which has clearly impacted the offense). Furthermore, as you yourself acknowledge, my post here was mostly about the defense, not the offense. Hell, I wanted the Patriots to draft multiple receivers, so why the hell would I want those receivers to fail?

To use your comments here, I "can be right" while the team wins, no problem.

I am just telling you how are coming off.

And BTW, the Pats are still 3-0. So the loss of Welker hasn't really hurt the Pats as much as you seem to hope for unless the Pats get to a tiebreaker situation where points scored or points differential mean anything. And in the long run, it MIGHT make the Pats a better team because Brady may not over rely on one or two receiver. Without a safety blanket for Brady, it is forcing him to throw to these young receivers. And it is might mean this team is stronger in January when it counts.

Nope, no extra negativity slipping through there.

Come on, now, don't go down the road with the insane clown homer posse. I was laying out my issues about the receivers in response to someone accusing me of really talking about the offense when I was pointing out some reasons not to go overboard on the defense. Of course I'm going to mention Welker. That's my #1 issue with the receivers.

Brady still throws a great spiral with effective velocity, it's just those throws in the dirt that worry me a tad. He's had nagging tendinitis in his shoulder for the past few years, it's probably a mild concern but something to keep an eye on

I hope Brady gets his throws down to 35 attempts per game like today...I hate it when he's throwing 45-50 times a game at this stage of his career--92 attempts through the first 2 games vs bad teams is not a good sign.....he's certainly putting himself in a more precarious health situation.

Trading Welker away isn't hurting this offense. He was a great regular season receiver but when you need him to make a big catch in the playoffs he dropped it. I'll take Amendola any day over him.

No, it's your No. 1 issue with life in general.

You too? OK, now I'm starting to doubt my sanity.

We traded Wes Welker???

Wow, while at the game the one thing that caught my eye was Talib's intensity. On the field, he goes insane whenever the D made a great play. He'd also try to pump up the crowd as well as his teammates. The D really feeds off his energy.

I hope he can be a Patriot long term.

So, I say the Patriots got a solid win, but note that I'm not as impressed as some are because the Bucs came in reeling (they did) and they were moving the ball until suffered injury at the WR position (they were).

Somehow, the insane homers have managed to read that as me bashing the receivers and wanting the Patriots to go 8-8.

Gotta love Patsfans.com...

You have done it to yourself. Your agenda has been transparent for a long time now.

You're kidding with this, right? Did you read your own earlier posts? Are you really trying to equate normal incompletions, well within the margin of error for any QB in NFL history, with proof of decline and a failure of improv capabilities?

In 2007, in the game against the Ravens, Brady completed under 50% of his passes. Two weeks later, he completed only 52% of his passes and then followed that up the next week with just a 56% completion rate. In all of those games, he missed open receivers and threw an interception (he actually threw 2 INTs in that last game).

Was he in decline then, too?

I never said Brady was "in decline", please don't attribute that to me, I simply said that it was a weak point in his game, one which I think can be improved with the correct practice methods.

No, it's the insane homers such as yourself making the stupid comments. You, yourself acknowledged that you understood my point was about the defense, before rambling on nonsensically about 8-8 and receiver hatred and the like.

Aaron Rodgers threw 2 INTs today, missed some open receivers, was sacked 4 times, had a QB rating under 65 and failed to convert a 4th down with the game on the line. He must be too old for the NFL.

And he has all world offensive weapons at his disposal.

I didn't attribute it to you.

No. It is your agenda driven, your opinion is the only one that is right and anyone who disagrees with you are homers or idiots attitude that has turned half this board against you.

You are like Michael Felger or Ron Borges. You have created this contrarian character. Own it.

Disappointed in the crowd today after the 1st quarter after watching seattle's 12th man last week trying to set a guiness record last week

Was on a long car trip today and heard Zolak during the 2nd quarter call it "The World's Largest Outdoor ****tail Party". He was definitely down on the crowd. He is right.

The problem is that most of the folks going to Gillette these days put all their energy into the tailgate - - the game is purely background to the Iron Chef fantasy.

It really is quite remarkable, your want, no actual need to label those who share a divergent opinion to yours as insane homers Deus. Be better than that. That smug nature isn't becoming and takes away from the good points you do make.

We all knew there was the potential for rookie growing pains. The Patriots are 3-0 with minimal contributions from Gronkowski, Amendola and a slightly off Tom Brady. The defense has been doing what they are supposed to do. Atlanta is going to be a big test this coming week, one which I am eagerly anticipating to gauge the true improvement of the D.

Whilst no oil painting, the Patriots have progressed to a pen license and tossed the crayons aside. Enjoy that small improvement for once.

When did we 'trade' welker ? Or we say it just to make it sound worse ?

Re: Re: The OFFICIAL Patriots vs. Bucs Post-Game Thread

I was at the game. Great win - nice balance on both sides of the ball, albeit after a slow start on the offense. D was great again! Rookies got going a bit, particularly Thompkins. My only complaint was the play calling in the first quarter. Too much 5 wide. On the first drive we get to 3rd & 2 and you throw it? WFT Josh. Other than that, no complaints except Brady had a few bouncers. Solid win!! Onto Atlanta!

Thompkins really didn't play that well today, he caught 2 touchdowns which disguises that fact but he wasn't that impressive overall. In Thompkins defense I think it has more to do with how they're attempting to use him, he is not a X receiver he is a Y receiver he would fit better in intermediate routes.

The play calling has been suspect all season in my opinion, as well as the personnel choices on offense.
