Yates: Gronk 50/50 to play in Week 3.

getting Gronk back will take some of the pressure off the rookies..if sudfeld/boldin can play that should help as well

Im expecting a better game from the rookies on sunday as well....especially Dobson...the drops arent who he is based on his hands at marshall...he was a couple of drops from a huge night.

look at the rookie receiver on Houston..he had a poor first week followed by a monster second week. not saying Dobson will. but he should be better

FWIW, Florio is saying Gronk is closer to doubtful than questionable, but that didn't stop him from being snarky. From his articl:

Whether he gets there in Week Three, Week Four, or Week Five remains to be seen. If he doesn’t get there by Week Six, then the Pats will have wasted a roster spot on a guy who could have stayed on the PUP list.

I couldn't disagree with him more. Even if he doesn't play until week 6 or 7, I think his road back to being as close to 100% is far more benefited by him being on the active roster and practicing with the team. If he was on PUP, he couldn't practice with the team which I think is still valuable.

Like you said, he couldn't practice if he was on PUP until week 6. So it's more like if he's not active by week 8, it will have been a waste. But Florio can still kiss my ass.

If Gronk's doctors came to a conclusion that Gronk is able to go and there are no set backs, infections or anything negative that could result in him bein out indefinitely or a long period of time then send him in. Limit and monitor his play. If anything this new is encouraging that he's makin significant progress and our Offense (what's left of it) will benefit with his presence.

He could practice in pup just not with the team. Sudfeld aka studfeld could be key.

We can end the debate if he will play. Florio and Breer have ruled him out before the Pats have even listed him for this week.

He isn't supposed to have any contact with the Patriots coaching staff while on PUP and not allowed to work out at the Patriots' facilities. He can work out on his own, but he isn't supposed to have any contact with the team other than medical issues.

Guregian has a source that doesn't think it's likely Gronk gets the green light this week...

The Blitz with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

Since he's gotten back on the field practicing, they're given Gronkowski a little more each day, and each week, upping his load, and getting him back into football shape, as he comes back from multiple forearm surgeries, as well as back surgery.

According to the source, the Pats want Gronk to feel "100 percent confident" at being ready to go. To that end, there's been various reports out there today about how close he is to playing Sunday against Tampa. Based on information from the source, at this stage, we'd say it's "less likely" to happen, than more likely Gronk will get the green light.

Reporters say that Gronk has a 50 - 50 chance of playing, though there's only a 10 percent chance of that.

He'll either play or not play. So it's 50-50 - bulletproof logic!

I think we could see him action like we saw him in week 17 last year versus Miami.

Hopefully not. He didn't look anywhere near healthy in Week 17 last year.

Albert Breer says it is unlikely Gronk plays this Sunday.

How does 'taking an additional week to ensure health' mean to perpetually keep on training wheels?

We don't know what stage he's at, we're not privy to the info, we can keep saying one more week will help every week, eventually when he feels ready and the medical staff gives him the go ahead its time to start playing.

Aside from how he responds to contact drills and clearance from the team doctors, what other better ways are there to determine if he's ready to play or not?
Ping Pong.

I'm just happy we're finally hearing his name again, cautiously excited.

Unlike Amendola, who've is a lost cause in my mind. I expect nothing of him this year.
