Slater has broken hand

Hearing that #Patriots special teams captain Matthew Slater has a broken bone in his hand, and his availability vs #Bucs is in question
Per: @BenVolin

... and the hits keep coming. He's easily our best STs player. Now I'm glad we kept Coles.

Reading the title of this thread, my initial response was ...

Of course he does.

Sigh.

The Patriots must truly have the most inept strength and conditioning coaches in the league. Really embarrassing.

The good news is that Slater plays a position where he could play with a broken hand. He will still probably miss a week or two, but it isn't a six week type of thing like Vereen.

What does that have to do with breaking a bone? Do you think he broke his hand because he's out of shape?

If it was a bone is foot I'd be a lot more worried. I think it gets casted and he is out there Sunday

It's not a comment about just him, but it just seems that there is a lack of strength and/or durability present on this team right now.

Fire BB, he never hired a coach that teaches players not to break bones!

Asinine statement. It's football, injuries happen.

I saw in redskins game one of the DL was wearing a big cast kind of thingy on his right hand. It almost looked like a boxing glove

That's the problem. The S&C coach isn't making them drink enough milk

Barry Cofield, it looks ridiculous and I'm surprised they allow him to play with essentially a weapon:

Barry Cofield?s club hand

And what's even worse is that we should have that player on our team as a current DT, and backup position to Wilfork.

Cofield had potential, but unfortunately we let him go.

Is there any reason why he can't just play with a cast? Slater already has some of the worst hands I've ever seen, so I'm not even sure what he loses.

Now that Slater is hurt, our WR corps is really going to take a dive.

What use would his straight line speed be IF he cannot use his hand or hands to Tackle? I smell IR here. I was wrong about Slater I really appreciate his ST's play.

How do you strengthen the bones in your hand?

you grow an exoskeleton, of course

but we have totally subpar evolutionary genetics coaches. All of our genetic alterations are for crap.
