NE@BUF post-game (over)reaction thread

way way too many mistakes...and when you're being held all game, COMPLAIN to the ref..,.it's the facking NFL...where you HAVE TO toe tap also...and you have to give yourself room on the backline of the end zone....HORRIBLE rookie display...I hope they make him watch the tapes the next three days or else Thompkins is ANOTHER "can't receiver".

I guess everyone is happy and glad...la dee dah./.....I'm a HUGE homer and this game felt like a friggin loss. NO depth om any routes all day, missed blocks all over the field on key plays, drops and muffs and fumbles and on and on and on. If Barfalo had a veteran QB they win going away...jeezus..."I passed him off to you!...no, I thought you were staying in coverage?...no, you were supposed to cover sideline endzone...yeah, but...but ...but?....for crying out loud, WTF was THAT???? Wide open in the endzone with TWO DB's wondering wjhy they should cover a WR IN THE END ZONE????????????????????????????????

This team has a LOT of work to do...I just wonder what the hell HAVE They been doing?...and unless Jones gets pressure on occasion..their tactic of rushing four and letting a rookie mook know nothing just sit there making reads is preposterous. WHEN??????????????????????????????? WHEN do we decide to frigging RUSH THE PASSER??????????? ...and WTH happened with Spikes?..dehydration?????? WTF Is THAT?

A lot of us hated this overhaul of the offense...I didn't...but it's friggin plain as day...this is a thrift shop version of the offense a star QB SHOULD have at THIS stage in his career. All this blabbing about these rookie WR's and what did YOU see today? One mutt in the whirlpool at the Razor...another a DNP...and the third playing like he's still in college using college rules. Did Sudfeld EVER get downfield??Is THIS what precious genius offensive coacxh has dreamt up for THIS season??

and where was Washington on kickoffs??? anybody bothered by having a 250 pound RB running back kicks????

I'm pi$$ed off....sorry everybody.

One huge thing I left out of my previous thoughts was this – My hatred for Aaron Hernandez tripled during this game, I actually just thought of him as a moron before the game, yet I did not have a ton of hate for him, after watching this I hope he gets shanked in prison.

Your opinion of a murdered changed based upon how other TEs played today?

I was with you up until the last sentence.

Now that I've had time to settle and think reasonably, here is what I have to offer:

The biggest takeaway is that the Patriots won a Divisional Road Game. The Bills always give the Patriots a tough fight, and Mike Pettine has really transformed that defense. The Bills are no longer push overs, and that's good to see. Hopefully this Division gives the Patriots a fight because that will only make them better.

With that said...

Tom Brady really had little to work with from the get go. The Offensive Line was shaky all game, and I think part of it had to do with Solder playing TE at times, forcing he and Cannon to continually switch in and out. Consistency means so much to an offensive line.

Stevan Ridley started flat with a fumble, came back strong, but then carelessly let loose another fumble. As talented as he is, it's a problem, and I wonder if he starts riding bench to Vereen, who seems to be a better overall player.

At Wide Receiver, Amendola and Edelman prove that they belong, but both have faced injury troubles in the past, and Amendola suffered another one today. I don't know if either will be able to play all 16 games, but as a unit, both can effectively man the slot. As for everyone else... Thompkins looked totally lost and overwhelmed. Boyce was invisible. Dobson was inactive. I know they're rookies, but they need to contribute if this team is to go anywhere.

Tight End is another big issue on offense. Sudfeld was a dud today, Hooman seems like a liability. Gronkowski will be huge when he returns, but this team needs a capable #2. I hope Fells or Ballard find their way back soon.

Defense wasn't too bad, in my opinion. They had their shaky moments, but made plays when they had to. I think the lack of pressure was by design as Manuel can move if he's flushed from the pocket. McCourty underwhelmed me, but I though Talib, Arrington and Dennard were all exceptional.

I think the defense could be fine in the long run, but these receivers better wake up for Thursday night, or else I will have serious concerns.

Amen-freakin' dola.

What were his numbers? He was incredible. Incredible. I desperately hope his groin isn't too tweaked. What an amazing player.

Kudos to Edelman and Vereen for playing their asses off.

So what the hell is the matter with Ridley? What is up with the fumbles? I was very, very disappointed with him because there were some nice runs too. Then and went and got himself benched. C'mon, man.

As for the rooks, they looked like rookies. Thompkins had a few nice catches but he frequently looked like things were just happening too fast for him. Rookie stuff. I expected that.

I thought the defense played quite well except for one or two issues. But overall, pretty good.

I could only Red Zone the game so saw very few plays.
Question: Did any draft picks from the '13 class play any non special team downs?

Why is Vereen not starting?

And did Julian Edelman have a better game than the one from Welker everyone was gushing over?

If he catches that one 30 yard strike that hit him in the right forearm then I'd say yes.

I definitely think Amendola played a better game than Wes it just wasn't showing on the scoreboard because Pettine defenses know how to play us.

Also - after seeing Buffalo play the way they did I definitely got to wonder if Rex got too much credit for that defense, because Pettine's squad had the best day of any unit.

Because the opportunity and probability for a learning curve and a jump in performance are at its highest right now in his career. It does matter. If he were a 5 year vet and this were his first game with the team, it would be an entirely different matter.

Football games aren't graded on a curve where you get points because rookies aren't supposed to be expected to play well.
He steps on the field he needs to be good enough to play. Today he was not. Maybe he had a cold.

I mean I did not think highly of him, but I didn’t have a huge reason to hate him per say as his crimes did not impact me directly, after seeing how badly he hurt my favorite team though yes I now have hatred for him rather than just general dislike and lack of respect.

Not many team can overcome the turnovers and mistakes on a hostile field and still win.

So we should be happy about this win. In the NFL all teams have players who get paid and coaches who are professionals. Buffalo caught some breaks, played hard, and that is what made the game competitive.

I will just give you a 'no comment'

This game was close because of fluke plays. Brady never loses the snap on those sneak plays, Ridley had a brain fart and left the ball on the ground and the Sudfeld drop that lead to the INT was a catch he should make, plus a ball that could have been thrown softer. That was 21 points right there.

I'm sure Thompkins will only get better, so will Sudfeld, so will everyone else on this team, it's Game 1.

My real concern is why is Blount returning kicks? We don't have anyone faster for that job? Boyce was hardly in the game today, I think he would have been a better option there.

Boyce played some downs on offense.

I said this yesterday that i would happy with a 17-10 win and iam happy with a 21-20 win. When was the last time in last few yrs won this way?. Lot of mistakes but managed to win. D held them to 20 but personally i expect more pressure from them .A better offense will give them a lot of trouble and the bills made quite a few mistakes. Their 3rd down D was good but would expect a more aggressive defense. Really expected them to be much better in the 2nd yr with all the returning rookies but dont know how much improved they are after this game.
Amendola gutted it out, probably took injections but need to see at what cost to his future health if he has to miss any games. The reaction when he got hurt in the game thread i felt was drastic. It wasn't his fault he pulled his groin again.Happens.

What's really sad is I expected a game like this and a post like this.

Buffalo had 280 yards and ONE real scoring drive......and this is what we get?

Very true PNF, the one thing that stood out to me is the Bills were certainly fired up for the game, and brought their best effort, so given that and all the adversity this team has faced over the offseason for us to leave with a victory is something we should all be happy about.
