Can you really call someone who has been in the league 4 years raw?

Yes. No question asked. Elway didn't develop him and the stupid jets only brought him in for a PR stunt. Tebow is a raw qb. He needs to start from scratch. I also agree with demo on Ivan and people general including the media IMHO only seeing tebow as a worthless useless player while bill doesn't not. Bill sees some potential in this kid or he would have cut him already.

I don't believe or he is keeping him because tebow is a nice guy and he wants to help him out. That is lazy thinking.

So says the poster who could care less about fielding the best 53 man roster for the New England Patriots.

Yet again lying about what others believe. How many times do you need to be called out on it before you stop ?

Whereas what i see is a guy who cannot pass to save his life and fumbles like nobody else. The fourth year is time to cut bait, not the time to start a project with a valuable roster spot they will actually need. If he could be placed on the PS it would not be an issue, but he can't be, that is why there is a debate. If he could go to the PS they could use him to play the opposing QB in read option systems and i would be fine with that, i am not fine with cutting fells, Bolden, edelman or Cunningham etc... when edelman can actually play that role and has in the past.

You guys keep on saying tebow is wasting a roster spot. Which star player is out there that we are going to replace tebow with. The extra spot is for depth purposes only. They shouldn't be counted to win you games. Our team is so close to being finalized with or without tebow. I'm tired of hearing Tebow us blocking from signing a depth guy. Most teams carry three qb's anyways so why should it be different for pats. If tebow makes the team, we are going to hve multiple threads on why he is only on the team because of Kraft, tebow is a nice guy blah blah. I feel bad for the Mods.

Re: Re: Has Tim Tebow earned a roster spot on the Patriots?

I'm not a mindless lemming that agrees with every transaction that has occurred with the New England Patriots during the Bill Belichick era. Pissing away draft picks for a fat lazy bum in Albert Haynesworth and a selfish egotist in Chad "Ochostinko" Johnson come to mind.

Probably more of a calculated decision then pissing away draft picks, these 2 didn't work out but a player like Talib who was brought in similarily did last season, and Blount appears to be another who could, no risk, no reward.

Honest answer, did you consider these trades pissing away picks at the time or has your opinion in hindsight.

I guess you were completely satisfied with the "Three Stooges":

Josh Barrett
James Ihedigbo
Sergio Brown

I think these guys were more about a stop gap between the safety group he was trying to move away from and the new group he was attempting to build, and as sickening as it may sound Ihedigbo has done more in the NFL over the last 2 years than Merriweather.

Re: Re: Has Tim Tebow earned a roster spot on the Patriots?

Video Hub - ESPN Kraft discusses Tebow signing and delivers Tebow jersey to mike.

Mike is a big Tebow fan, probably made sense to bring the jersey of a player he was a fan of, I guess he could of brought him a Hernandez jersey since he had all the extra ones they took back.

Lesson learned here is that Kraft is not cheap

Right, so either Sanchez is actually better or there is a Sanchez conspiracy.

Sanchez is the better pure QB and would be a better backup here than Tebow is, currently at least. But there is a pretty obvious joined at the hip thing going on between Sanchez and Ryan that anyone with the comprehension skills of a mollusk can see.

Tebow wasn't given a chance to compete last year and in their system, with their situation, I think he would have been more successful than Sanchez given that all Sanchez could do is drop back look around then then throw the ball at a defensive player. I also think that locker room and huddle leadership is drastically underrated by today's fantasy football generation and that Tebow would have elevated the play of those around him more than Sanchez would have ever been capable of.

So yes, Sanchez is the better pure passer and overall QB right now and there was a conspiracy theory.

Yet again lying about what others believe. How many times do you need to be called out on it before you stop ?
Based upon three preseason performances to date, which of one of the following offensive players currently on the New England Patriots roster has performed at a higher level to earn a spot on the 53 man roster:

James Develin
Tim Tebow

you know he could be a cheap camp arm right? He has no downside - if he has some ability you can hold on to him for almost nothing. if he sucks more than you thought... well you needed a 3rd qb to eat time.

win / win for bill.

I happen to think he is a camp arm. we will see on Friday or thereabouts

I did not want either player at the time.

Nor did I want the New England Patriots pissing away drafts picks for Derrick Burgess right after trading away Richard Seymour.

That's a flawed interpretation. From the day Tebow was signed by the Jets, Rex was adamant that Sanchez was the #1 and that wasn't going to change. There wasn't a QB competition for Tebow to win. Tanny and Rex had just signed Sanchez to a nice big contract extension.

By all rights, the Jets SHOULD have had an open competition after the way Sanchez finished out 2011. Then again, Sanchez should have been benched much earlier in the 2012 season, no matter how the #2 QB looked in camp or in practice.

Also, you have to take into account how 2011 played out in Denver. There, Orton got benched, Tebow came in and suddenly Denver started winning games.

WTF was Rex going to do if after all that time of coddling Sanchez, Tebow came in and won ? Week after week of saying that Sanchez gave them the best opportunity. Week after week of watching Sanchez gift points to the opponents and otherwise SUCK. He would have looked like even more of an idiot than normal.

You talk about how there's a competition this year, as if that has some bearing on what happened last year. I seem to recall that Tanny got fired, there's a new GM and Rex is on the chopping block. In short, Rex had no other choice this year than for their to be a QB competition. Even now though, many over at the Jets forums are screaming about how he's still slanting things for Sanchez.

If he had come out smoking, lighting up practice and the pre season games I have no doubt rex would have had to play tebow. but there is nothing you can point to other than sanchez sucking donkey doo as a reason to put tebow in. his camp reports weren't stellar, the pre season games looked mediocre at best and the few snaps they gave him went nowhere.

In fact I think the few snaps they gave him made sanchez even worse. no rhyme or reason to it.

they didn't have the team the broncos had, no wr worth a damn, no rb worth a damn, o line was atrocious, how do you figure tebow does any better? at least in Denver they had some play makers for him to get the ball to and a good o line.

I think you guys should praise rex for not ending tebows career on that team.

You have to try, a life without failure is a life unlived.

let me ask all the detractors...is there any chance Tebow plays really good Thursday and changes your opinion? or is there nothing he can do at this point?

you need more than one good or great game in what every one knows is a joke of a football game.

But yes, I would be more than ready to say he looked good if he indeed does. will it erase the past? No, but at least there would be a glimmer of light.

The only difference between me and you is, you believe those wins in 2011 were a norm, I believe they were an outlier. it was an interesting watch for sure but I see what I see and I cant buy it. I think its fools gold.

either way. if he makes the 53 I don't think we see him get a single snap... matter of fact I don't think he ever dresses out unless brady goes down.

This feels like a preemptive strike for when Tebow gets cut.

Oh well.....

I guess I gotta hang on to what brady6 proposed which is contract offer for OTAs to start it up again a half year from now if gets cut.

that's the way I read. "hey don't get mad at me I love Tebow but Bill wears the pants...soooo"

I think if he makes the team we see him quite a bit .

Tebow scored 13 Tds with Josh as head coach in his rookie year while Orton was the starter. They will get creative with him for sure.

however if he is cut he is cut.

that's the way I read. "hey don't get mad at me I love Tebow but Bill wears the pants...soooo"

I am going back and forth with this but have put negative thoughts out of my mind and waiting to see how Thursday pans out.

The bottom line is Bill Belichick is fallible.

What I seen to date thru three preseason games with Tim Tebow at quarterback has been completely abhorrent.

Based upon three preseason performances to date, which of one of the following offensive players currently on the New England Patriots roster has performed at a higher level to earn a spot on the 53 man roster:

James Develin
Tim Tebow

Another loaded question in that you ignore just about everything else by restricting consideration to the three preseason performances. This has been explained to you repeatedly. Are you not smart enough to understand it ?

Since you won't answer the question, it's obvious all you care about is Tim Tebow, nothing more and nothing less.

Key word. ORTON. Tell me exactly when tim is superior to Brady? Never. Not on 1st and 10. Not on 2nd and 3 and not on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd and goal. Orton is a horrible qb that could be replaced by a guy that brought more skill in certain situations. Orton isn't the qb here. Brady is. He runs the team. You think he's coming off the field? No way.

You don't ask Picasso to take a break and let an art school student finish the painting.

Since you won't answer the question, it's obvious all you care about is Tim Tebow, nothing more and nothing less.

Again demonstrating your complete ignorance.

That I won't play your silly assed game doesn't mean that the conclusion you have reached is correct. All it means is that I won't play your silly assed game.
