re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

I actually think there's a reasonable chance that may have come into play. The first "real" chance that Tebow may have had wasn't until about 10 min left in the game, and by then Mallett hadn't even had more than a couple of drives, one that ended in a 3 and out.

Here's the drive summaries:

  • 11:00 3 00:57 NWE 20 3 -2 Punt
  • 06:35 3 06:01 NWE 20 16 76 Downs
  • 09:25 4 01:05 NWE 17 3 -2 Punt
  • 04:08 4 03:36 NWE 20 11 80 Touchdown

Aren't you a Tebow fan? Or is the GQ picture a joke? :what:

I'm trying to show how awful the Tebow fans are through satire. I'm really a huge Kafka fan and I still think BB was an idiot for cutting him.

heh...I TOLD you not to screw around with us and this site...THIS is just the start....be sure to tell Brandileanne too...

It's just like the FACT that no Tebowite has stated how the NEPs should have spent their FA dollars, contrary to another claim you made.
Wrong! Refer to post #2372

That isn't "win now" mode. Win now is trading up and grabbing elite level WR talent or bringing in elite WRs through trades or FA.

Bill Belichick is the walking antithesis of "win now" mentality.
Antithesis of "win now" mentality .... you're clueless.

Right, so after the nice 2nd drive which consisted of 16 plays and a failed 4th and goal, Belichick may have thought it was a better idea to continue with Mallett, especially since there was only 9:25 left in the game at that point.

I really honestly don't think it means much that Tebow didn't play, and I don't think it really effects his chances to make the team. Just my opinion though, we'll know soon enough--but I wouldn't even be remotely surprised if he does make the team. Not in the least.

re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

I think it's ReMARKerable...don't you, C.O.????

re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

Sad end? How about MERCIFUL end! Tebow's NFL "career" has been a painful one save for those few bright moments in Denver when the stars aligned briefly. He should consider himself blessed to have lasted this long and had more chances than many players of superior ability. He had a great college career and has made a lot of money. He's just not cut out to play quarterback in the NFL, but I'm sure has a bright future in whatever he chooses to do next. I hope his days as a Patriot are over and wish him the best.

What ? You aren't going to throw Blount, Svitek or Washington in there again as well ?

Go sleep it off. Take a couple of aspirin to help prevent a morning headache and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

yeah...and on that note, I think we should hold a Patsfans celebrity roast to raise some money for the Timster and send him on his way...I'll play the Don Rickles role....

I think Tim should pay ME for having to fret through his tenure here.

Which proves you don't have a clue what you are talking about when it comes to player contracts pertaining to the New England Patriots.

Guess I should have posted Brady's work as well to give better context.

  • 15:00 1 03:17 NWE 20 8 70 Fumble
  • 07:14 1 01:34 NWE 22 3 8 Punt
  • 04:22 1 01:01 NWE 13 2 -5 Fumble
  • 01:20 1 01:33 NWE 21 5 21 Intercepted Pass
  • 13:00 2 01:22 NWE 13 3 -6 Fumble
  • 10:40 2 03:35 NWE 20 10 67 Field Goal
  • 05:43 2 02:10 NWE 10 5 24 Punt
  • 03:08 2 01:12 NWE 42 5 22 Downs
  • 01:18 2 00:28 NWE 1 3 7 Punt
  • 00:05 2 00:05 NWE 36 1 -1 End of Half

Last one was end of half so shouldn't really count. That's 9 drives and 43 plays for Brady. Mallet had the 4 drives and 33 total plays, but 11 of those were on the last drive. Had he been sat to give Tebow reps, it would have only been 19 or 22 plays for him.

I'd wager that if the Pats had the ball more than 4 times in the 2nd half, Tebow probably would have gotten some snaps, so I'm definitely not reading anything into it.

re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

thank you, Henny....let's have a big hand for Mr. Youngman everybody...and please...TAKE HIS WIFE...he'll be here all week....*clap clap clap clap*...

re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

one thing I have learned about the pats and BB with preseason is the players that play the most/have the best stats in preseason don't even make the team most of the time. so with that said Tebow still may make this team

In Moss's first preseason, he didn't play at all and the media was speculating that he was going to get cut as he wasn't working out. Then comes week 1 and he lights it up like we've never seen.

Do I expect Tebow to be this year's Moss? No; Am I disappointed in what I've seen from him so far? Yes; But I'm still holding out hope that there's some use for him that BB has in mind that hasn't yet been showcased.

re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

If he gets cut...I won't be crying the blues.

He has a bright future in the snake oil sales (tv organized religion preacher stuff).

Which proves you don't have a clue what you are talking about when it comes to player contracts pertaining to the New England Patriots.

Really? Your "biggest" name thrown out there was Amendola. And as you pointed out, he has the 28th highest APY salary for WRs. Funny enough, the guy he was brought in to replace has the 26th highest salary for WRs. FTR, when you are 28th, that means 27 other guys at your position are paid more.

This is "win now mode" to you ??

Read the dates on which the new contracts were signed on post #2454.

Read the dates on which the new contracts were signed.

I HAVE.

Let's get something clear. I'm not criticizing the roster or saying that the Pats are doing it wrong. To the contrary, I think that they are doing things the right way.

Other people in this thread (who aren't Tebowites) have tried to explain to both you and SB1 what has been said and what was meant by what has been said.

Short version is that you are seriously misunderstanding what is meant by "WIN NOW MODE". You have somehow gotten the mistaken idea that it means that Bill and company aren't trying to win. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. NO ONE IS SAYING ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT.

The Pats are getting very good players at good values. THAT is how you run an organization that wins REPEATEDLY over time. It's the recipe for SUSTAINED success.

The New England Patriots organization currently do not place as high of value on wide receivers than tight ends. Thus, Tebowites (not you) should not dictate to PatsFans how salary cap dollars should be allocated and to what positions.

Whilst it's an open forum, Tebow- rites can do whatever they please.

As for "win now", I'd suggest that trading out of the first round and leaving a fair amount of spare cap on the table are not the actions of a team that wants to win at all cost in the short-term which is what "win now" effectively means. Yes, BB wants to win now. So does the GM or HC of all the top teams and the re-signing of roster depth as you have described is just S.O.P. The Patriots are targeting both short and medium term which is not what I think of as win-now which usually involves some form of medium to long term sacrifice for a short term advantage. Where's the sacrifice?

re: Tebow's NFL career may be coming to a sad end.

Belichick has had his mind made up long ago that Tebow will be on this 53 man roster.

What does he bring??? Great attitude, leadership, hard worker, just an all around great positive locker room guy who will be a great example to the rookies and everyone else for that matter. Word was BB lost some of the locker room last season, Timmy brings it back with being a good example.

Like it or not, Tebow is here to stay. Reason he didn't play against the Lions, another poor showing would be very hard to justify keeping him to the fans and media.
