there's going to be a lot more pressure on BB and McD this week...from the fanbase AND the media. I prefer to stay level headed and LOOK behind the abysmal showing for the plays they called . I've seen a lot of reps at practice with Tebow. He threw an INT down the middle tonight that came about because he strongarmed it. That's a sign of pressing. The mechanics were good though. The outcome?...unacceptable...and Tebow and the coaches KNOW that. It's a preseason game...it don't count. Learn from it.
The first series they deliberately had Tebow throw a medium pass to his right. It was preposterous. It's been just like that all camp. A couple of days ago I watched all his reps and they never had him even attempt a throw to his right. They called that play tonight for a reason, and I think they founds out what they already knew. He's got a bad flaw mechanically on throws to his right. We already KNOW this....so, again, it's a teaching point. He has a definite issue that he needs to work and work and work.
The second series, he rolled to the left and threw a horrible pass, short into the turf. I'll bet you all were watching him from the waist up...I watched his feet....when the replay comes out that we can slo mo, look at it...his footwork was all fakked up...again. He does this half the time on those rollouts to the left. THAT was one of those where he did NOT plant and throw. When he doesn't , THAT is what happens. They already know this too.
He had a couple of decent throws between the hashes that went incomplete, but i thought he looked fine mechanically on.Those on the field weren't the starters, they were depth players trying to make the roster too. We don't really know if it was on Tebow or the receivers on some of these p[lays, but the body language certainly seemed to indicate the arrow points at Tebow.
My take is this...if this was any other prospective 3rd QB I'd make sure my hotel bill was paid.Any other season and the Pats carry 2 QB's going into the first game. Tebow is a different animal though. They(the staff) didn't really seem concerned or upset at any point in the 2nd half when the offense was on the field. They let him take his lumps, they called some runs so he could get some contact, which it seems he looks for, and all in all, it was a lot of reps that they'll break down and work him some more on. I know it's frustrating for a lot of us , because as Pats fans , we KNOW what top echelon quarterbacking is...and Tebow ain't it.
