V Jax vs the BB bend and break defense........history shows V Jax domination...even against triple teams.
But it will be different this year.....ahem ahem cough cough
Foam Fingers Unite

Since you are obviously talking about me, I will respond.

I never said it will be different this year. All I am saying is that none of know that it won't be.

The last time Vincent Jackson played the Pats was September of 2011. Players not on the defense in September of 2011 and who are currently starters on this defense are Talib, Dennard, Adrian Wilson, Chandler Jones, Tommy Kelly, and Hightower. That is more than half the defense and 2/3s the secondary. And of the players who were here, McCourty was playing CB and not safety and Ninko was a back up. So Jackson has never faced this defense especially a Patriots defense with a CB who is the same size as him.

And let's not forget he had a Pro Bowl quality QB in Rivers throwing to him. And also let's not forget that even with Jackson getting 172 yards and 2 TDs, the Chargers only scored 21 points and lost the game by 2 TDs.

Again, the results could very well be the same and Jackson could get another 172 yards and 2 TDs against the Pats the next time he faces them for real in about a month or so. But then again, this Pats defense might find a way to slow him down. No one knows at this point.

13/08/2013.

It get's really confusing when the day is less than 12. 06/07/2013 to you would be the 7th of June and to me the 6th of July.

That's why I'm partial to 13Aug2013.

Have you guys realized how many one handed cathes have already been made by Patriots WR's and TE's alike. It's going to be thing of beauty knowing Brady's Passes don't always have to be perfect. Defenses are going to be in for it knowing our Offense uses the entire Field and not just half of it.:scared:

Bingo.

I've been singing the same tune. The last couple of years it felt like the offense was always in the red zone the way defenses were playing us.

The offense might be able to breath a little this year

Ya Andre Johnson absolutely abused the Pats secondary twice last year....

I'm detecting this as sarcasm so here goes:

Andre Johnson had 16 catches on 21 targets for 190 yards in two games against us last year. That would put him on pace for a 1520 yard season. He had 1598 yards last year, so he had two of his top performances against us.

*yawn* Next.

He had 8 catches for 95 yards in each game (weird). Houston lost those games by a combined 41 points.

I wasn't aware we were looking at total team points when looking at how WRs of a certain prototype have consistently had success against us.

Thanks for clearing up that none of us can see in the future.

Clearly he is basing it off of the first preseason game where the starting defense minus McCourty and Dennard played a few series which involved absolutely no scheme at all.

No, I'm basing it on WRs running wild against our secondary last year. I haven't seen much improvement. Same with the pass rush, where is it going to come from. Not saying everybody can't improve, but it'll improve from poor to average.

Close to an 80% completion rate on the main aerial threat. Teams with premium RBs get BB's attention first. He then plays the odds game forcing teams to string completions together. Exactly why I believe V Jax will light up the NE secondary like the old days when cry baby Tomlinson got the attention and V Jax abused the smurfs.

Don't forget that Talib was injured and left one of those games early (regular season I think). Before that he was covering Mr Johnson very well. Johnson then went onto do well against a shorter CB (I think Dennard then covered him).

I wasn't weighing the points as heavily as I was the context of the performance. For example, AJ caught three balls in the last few minutes of a game that was already out of hand. He wasn't lighting anyone up when it counted.

I agree that the Pats have had trouble with big receivers, but AJ's numbers were misleading. They pretty much shut him down when the games were up for grabs.

Yeah, we covered him very well in those games, and he picked up all his yards later in the game when their chances of winning had substantially diminished.

So you're basing your pessimism off the fact that you haven't seen much improvement...in a single preseason game?

Sounds like you've got this pretty well thought out.

That's kinda a stupid comment. It could very well happen, but the Pats aren't scheming the Bucs or playing anything but vanilla. Anyone who think you are going to take anything away from this week on how the Pats and Bucs will perform against each other in the regular season is an idiot. Neither Belichick nor Schiano are going to show their hand to each other this week.

It's kinda dumb that you play teams in the preseason that you're going to play in the regular season. You'd think they would have changed that. Maybe it doesn't matter all that much in the end I guess.

And thanks for being the arrogant douche doom and gloomer that you are. You make it so much easier to treat you like the joke that you are when you act like this.

I try to address your obvious swipe at me with respect and give a rational argument why you may be wrong and you bring the intelligence of this board down with arrogant sarcasm that just wasted bandwidth.

The funny thing is that you talk as if you know for a fact what is going to happen week 3 when there are few people on this board more wrong, more often than you.
