Why did this team sign Tebow?

I don't hate Tebow. I think he's useless as a player.

if people are going to join the site the day tebow is signed, have a forum profile that looks like they broke into tebows home, stole his photos cut them up, covered themselves in glue and rolled around in said cut up photos, then yes I'm going to put patriots in quotes.

By running a second offensive scheme JUST for tebow we are stunting the growth of our rookies. Just by having Tebow here the team is going to be worse short term till he leaves and the team can get down to business.

While i like tebow most of his followers are another matter. From what ive seen there is little reason to keep tebow on the team. It will be a good day when hes cut and takes the legion of obnoxiously Tedious Tebow-ite Terrorists with him.

The Tebowites ( include me in it) Is like 7 forum members and they are all respectful. 95% of the Tebow noise on the site is generated by the Tebow haters.

I now believe that BB got all he wanted out of the Tebow experiment. It shielded pressure on his new WR corps. It allowed him to rebuild the DTs, it allowed more experimentation with secondary depth, it allowed more experimentation with the DEs, and DE/DT combos. It gave quiet to the further Mallett development. Mostly out of sight of the Mediots, while they chased the non-existant Tebow Story.

Plus he was able to help his Defense understand and handle the Fad of the moment, the Read, (kill the QB!), option.

The next and obvious step is to cut him to the Shadow Roster. No one picked him up before. If Bill Belichick and Josh MacDaniels, who drafted him, don't think he can make it, no on else will pick him up. Plus the CFL is already playing their season, so that is an unlikely destination, this season, but it's where he belongs, long term. Meanwhile BB has him on phone recall if needed, and he costs nothing, on the CAP or in the pocket.

The closest I've come to defending Tebow after Friday is saying that he's with 10 other guys trying to learn a new offense so maybe he's not the only reason they floundered.

He isn't my binkie, he's a Patriot player so I'm rooting for him. This apparently makes me a freak on patsfans.com.

1 Reason (Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick):

Him as a running QB, I've already sort of sunk this ship earlier. Tebow completed 4 passes the entire game. On read option plays the patriots had a 5.4 yards per carry average which is less then half of the YPC runners had while brady was in, and only slightly better then half as many YPC as when Mallet was in.

When you factor in ALL running plays Tebow led offense managed a breath taking 2.8 yards per carry, which included i believe 4 sacks. over teh span of the game including some first stringers, all 2nd stringers, and finally 3rd and 4th string from both teams.

If Tebow's strength is as a Running QB you would expect his game to get better and stronger, as the opposing defense started moving in their 3rd and 4th string fringe players. Thats not the case, The offense slowed down drastically the later into the game it got.

With regards to defenses having to "prepare for the read option" The read option is only effective if the QB can throw, Another set of facts i gave earlier in the thread listed all the new read options QB's Tebow was second to last in run average, and dead last in completion % by a Large margin as well as total wins.

So, in my eyes thats not good enough of a reason for him to make the 53 man roster, and i fully expect him to be cut, at which time some of teh new tebow fans will have to join a new forum to praise him on how hes got sure a good heart, and how he just, you know, he never quits! he just wins!

Creepy..... You realize 5.xx yards per carry would mean he gets a first down every two plays right?

You realize that later in his first preseason game with the Patriots he had the 11th string oline out there, not really hard to figure out why his #'s went down.
