Ryan is a perfect example of an excellent defensive coordinator who should never have been a head coach with anyone but the Jets.
LOL! He's only the head coach. Why would he be focusing on something as trivial as the offense. He had to make sure the waterboys had plenty of water and Gatorade ready so his players didn't get dehydrated.
Seriously, if he is too focused on the defense to not care about what is going on with the offense, he needs to hire a defensive coordinator who can run the defense. That has always been Ryan's problem. He looks as offense as an annoyance and a tool to get his defense a rest in between defensive series. Ryan is a perfect example of an excellent defensive coordinator who should never have been a head coach.

Someone brought up an interesting notion in one of the comments to the article. Gist of it is that Rex already knows he's out the door at the end of the year, so he's concentrating on the defense as kind of an audition for his next job, being a DC once again.

And then Ryan dropped the bomb, pointing out how glad he is that his kids didn't go to West Virginia.
“No, but it tells me I'm glad my kid never went there," Ryan said. "Tell you that much. I don't get that.”
Comment on Rex/Geno/WV story: "We may be backward hillbillies but we still would never let Rex Ryan or any or of his gene pool in the state"

Mark Sanchez Wastes No Time Sucking in 2013
New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez sucked in 2012. And he wasted no time sucking hard in 2013.
Sanchez’s first pass of the 2013 pre-season was incomplete. His second pass, a 3rd-and-9 throw to Ryan Spadola, gained 10 yards. Gasps of amazement at Sanchez's competence on that play rippled through the Ford Field crowd.
...
LOL. Is it bad that I actually like Sanchez a little bit more now? That actually looks pretty good on him. Embrace it Sanchez!
