Patriots Training Camp Day 7 (be advised)

Tavon Wilson is being listed as being "in the doghouse", supposedly only seeing reps with the third team against Tebow. Not sure what to make of that this early in camp, but it's worth noting considering he could have probably been drafted considerably later than he was...

I'm NEVER happy being right when I rant and rave about a bad pick. I absolutley HATED the Tavon Wilson pick, and I'm not happy that I might be right about this being a terrible pick. With so many talented, more highly rated players still on the board this pick truly irked me. So I'm not happy hearing this news.

I read that he and Harmon took 1st team reps just yesterday.

I saw that too. Hopefully, that means that Harmon is doing well enough to knock Adrian Wilson out of the starting role so that he can be a role player and concentrate on TE's and RB's as a nickel LB.

I saw that too but don't know how much to make of it at this point. It could indicate his dog house status or it could just be that they want A. Wilson taking most of the first team snaps. Find it hard to believe that they have the rookie in front of him already and wouldn't give him more of a chance.

The last sentence would make more sense to me if they weren't giving Harmon first team reps. This team has never been afraid of starting rookies if they are out performing the vets either.

Yeah, I am hoping that Tavon is falling it is because Adrian and Harmon as doing so well and not that Tavon is regressing.

Logic tells me it sounds like he's regressing. Hope I'm wrong because of the draft capital spent on him, but that's what it sounds like.

They gave Tavon first team reps as well, so it is probably them just seeing what the youngsters can do.

It seems to me like at this stage of camp you're rotating a lot of people through first team reps to 1) see what they've got against your other top guys and 2) give them some experience with the other first team guys. If a couple guys go down and Tavon HAS to fill in for McCourty or Adrian or whoever, you want to know he's gotten some reps with the rest of that defense.

For that reason, I don't think what team a guy is playing on in the first week really means much. What will be more telling is where he's practicing after the first preseason game. Things start to solidify more then.

I didn't hate the pick. I hated where it was made. That said, it's still a bit too early to draw a final conclusion about this one way or another. I just thought it was noteworthy.

With a second year guy, especially one that you drafted with an early pick, you're ideally hoping that you can keep giving him first team reps. That doesn't appear to be the case here, for whatever reason. Still, like I said, it's just noteworthy at this time. We'll see, if he is truly in the "doghouse", if he can play his way out of it.

Any statements about players without links to articles or tweets to noteworthy people need to be disregarded. If you're a fan at a camp, you can only report what your eyes see. How can your eyes see Tavon Wilson being in the dog house? It was reported that he was working with the 1s just yesterday.

Either that, or it may... it just MAY be in the link under the "Up to the Minute" media reports at the top right hand corner of the page that says "Tavon Wilson in the doghouse"...

Further, I haven't passed that off as fact. If you believe that, you haven't read the thread at all. What I've said so far is that, from the sounds of the reports, that he may have regressed but also that it can't be taken as anything other than noteworthy this early in TC.

C'mon, I know this isn't your first rodeo here.

It is week 2 of TC. BB always rotates the players this early to get better looks at some.

You are reading faaaaarrrrrr to much into this.

If week 2 of TC reps meant anything longterm, then Cedric Cobbs and Shawn Crable would be halfway to the Hall of Fame by now.

Do yourself a favor and don't believe a word Nick Underhill writes ever again. He likes to editorialize in an effort to appear intelligent and it usually backfires.

Unless you see the same report confirmed in two other places, just ignore it. Frankly, I wouldn't even read him in the first place, but might just be me.

Pats just announced that Training Camp will end on August 15.

I assume what they mean is that's the last day of practice that will be open to the public, and not that players will be golfing from then until the season opener.

To put a personal spin on my posts this far in here though, I would like to start hearing his name more in the reports I read. Thus far, it's been a quiet TC from him.

They've heard how terrible their offensive weapons are and decided to just forfeit 2013 and try again next year.

I hear Tommy Kelly is going to showcase.

-- Tim Tebow just threw the ball at the feet of a receiver. His ball seems to be hanging in the air today. Got to get more zip on it -- Ceese Carcieri

-- A lot of drops today from the wide outs. Got to step it up. -- Ceese Carcieri

-- Belichick is working with the first team defense right now. Looks like they're going over formations, techniques and specifics -- Derek Havens

-- Brady and Mallett alternating, throwing to WRs going one-on-one vs a CB. Both WRs and CBs are rotating. All 3 rookie WRs and Amendola solid. -- Derek Havens

-- Dobson, Thompkins and Edelman looking good in 1v1 drills in the red zone. Talib also playing some good D -- Ceese Carcieri

-- Matt Slater just had the catch of practice. A deep catch in the back of the end zone. Thrown by Mallett. -- Ceese Carcieri

-- Brady just threw a beautiful 35-yard strike down the sideline to Aaron Dobson over Aqib Talib. Fans hope to see that a lot this season -- Derek Havens

Another positive report on Thompkins today:

Derek Havens ?@PatriotsHaven 14m
Kenbrell Thompkins has more speed and strength than numbers indicate. He looks faster than advertised and has very strong hands. #Patriots
