Adalius Thomas-Officially a FA

I hope that the Patriots make a run a Jarret Johnson right off. He could be a steal and the Thomas stays out there the better our chances of getting Johnson.

I agree. How about Johnson and Thomas? Talk about a coup.

Probably wishful thinking.

Couldn't agree more. I think Adalius is worth the risk of his slowing down 3 years from now. And he provides a good combo of veteran and younger-than-Bruschi. Add him, plus a couple of draft picks, and LB looks a lot better.

Hey patsox23, I just wanted to say, "I love you man.":eat2: :woohoo: :violent:

That would be killer. Johnson's contract would make up for Thomas'.

Jarret was AD's backup basically, and the Ravens arent goin to let him go anywhere now that it appears AD wont be back.He is kind of like a poor mans Thomas, very versatile and I think some of the reason they are letting AD walk is because they know Johnson can step in and fill the void.

He was more than that. He has also been Ray Lewis' backup while Lewis has been hurt. Johnson did a very good job while Lewis was out. That makes Johnson a ILB & OLB. The Ravens do not have a choice if he wants to walk. He is a FA.

The thing about Thomas is his versatility. He would provide so many options for us defensively.

He would mostly play OLB, where he could rush the passer, drop in to coverage, or stuff the run. Then on certain downs he could move up to DE and allow us to go 4-3 on the fly. He could also move inside on obvious passing downs, which would allow us to bring another edge rusher in at OLB. Hell, he could even drop in to fairly deep coverage over the middle of the field (maybe he could even cover Dallas Clark).

All these options would make it so that opposing offenses would never be quite sure what they were going to get from the defense, and that would be a VERY good position for the Patriots to be in.

To me, this advantage far outweighs the concerns about his age, especially given that he has relatively little wear for a 29 year old LB (as others have pointed out). I certainly hope the Patriots put together a highly competitive offer for him.

Isn't this a nice time to dream about who the Pats are going to sign.

Realistically, I hope they can sign linebackers more productive than Eric

Alexander, TBC, Don Davis, Barry Gardiner, Corey Mays, and Pierre Woods

and younger than Junior Seau. I have nightmares about them giving

Monte Beisel and Chad Brown another chance.

But do you really want to sign a 30-year-old LB to a huge contract?

Seems like more risk than its worth.
If you got 4 good years out of him who cares?
I dont think its unreasonable at all to expect a LB to be effective through age 33. And I dont think its unrealistic to say he could still be in his prime at 32.
If you get 3 years of any player in his prime, and a 4th where he is still effective, that has to be considered a good FA signing.

No, digger. YOU. I love you. Any time you want to talk about anything, cry on my shoulder, you let me know. You complete me and/or had me at "hello."

i have been drooling over this guy since september
and now hes oficially gonna be a fa
please please please let us get him!!!

here is my wish list at linebacker:
olb: adalius, rosie, vrabel, rookie (day one in the likes of spencer, abiamari, woodley), pierre woods
ilb: fletcher-baker (or donnie edwards), bruschi, seau, rookie (doesht have to be early, but i wouldnt mind willis or david harris)

this prob isnt completely realistic, but a man can dream right
ive been saying for the last couple yrs we needed to get some new lbers in, and now we are in dire need
first on this list though is def adalius
the guy just fits way too perfectly into being a Patriot
heck, hes 270 lbs and hes lined up at corner for cryin out loud!!!!!
SIGN HIM!

Great as Adalius might be, let's remember that our greater need is at ILB.

terrific! he can fit right in

do u guys forget hes the most versatile LB in the league? you forget he can play ILB, OLB, MLB, S, DE and so many other positions if they tried?

yes maybe we take away his amazing pass rush ability but if we do more of a blitz scheme..we can get him blitizing a lot from inside

There is no reason that him and Vrabel can not switch back and forth with alternating blitz schemes, and Adalius ability to play DE would bring back some looks we have not seen since Willie left

even if we cant utilize him as a blitzer as much(i think we can with afew tweaks to the defense scheme), hes a much faster LB than Bruschi and he can COVER better than Bruschi or Seau

at 270..he can definatley hold down the strongside ILB spot..something Bruschi struggled with this year

Everyone wants to compare him to McGinest which is good, but he is much faster and can even be used in more ways than McGinest. I think ultimately he will be way too expensive and BB loves London Broil

Sorry for us, but no chance

Maybe they will just draft Zak Deossie and he will be better than him anyways:singing:

We are seriously one excellent LB away from a superbowl. Go for Adalius Thomas, re-sign Seau so he and bruschi could alternate plays to keep fresh and boom, off to Arizona we come. (it's Arizona right?)

I'd like to see us come on strong to Thomas both from the money aspect and the "being a part of a historic team that will contend for SB's every year" concept". Keepin my fingers crossed

Question will he want to come to us...I read somewhere where he want to go somewhere where it is warm...Ofcourse he want to paid well...
