I largely agree.
While the offense wasn't firing on all cylinders tonight, defensively they limited the Pens to few prime scoring opportunities. That's even more amazing considering the Pens were the proverbial wild animal backed into the corner -- they were going to give it everything and push the envelope to the very edge. The Bruins elimination of second chances was out of this friggin world. Did the Pens have one serious scoring opportunity off of a second chance??

So IF the Bruins keep up what they did to the Pens and largely to the Rangers, and TR continues to shut down what does get through as he has been doing for multiple games now? The only way the Bruins lose the cup is if they pull a Crosby and their offense utterly disappears.

Huh? In the last minute the Pens were just shooting it at the net on a wing and a prayer. I saw no empty nets where the Pens should have scored. I only saw a mass of bodies with the Pens desperately trying to get the puck in the net at any cost and without any cohesive playmaking.
So exactly what did I miss? What warranted a Bruins' fan posting "Sloppy....Rask stood on his head.....Chara got lucky" minutes after the awesome moment of the Bruins sweeping the Pens and moving one series away from winning the cup?

Pitt was the best team in the league and look at what the Bs did to them. Although chicago i think will put up a bigger fight..as of right now they are the best team remaining..4 more to go :rocker:

There were very few open opportunities given up by the Bruins to the Penguins whereas the Bruins created a great deal of open scoring opportunities. The layers on D the Bruins are running right now look as solid as I've seen in some time. Hopefully that will continue to be the case playing for Lord Stanley's Cup.

First tips away a good opportunity while going to his left, then manages to toss himself against momentum to his right and manages to get a free hand on a puck heading to the back of the net (tukka was sprawled out towards the near post, puck was headed to the far side). Luck played a role there. Go find the replay, while there was a ton of athletic skill involved, a lucky dive and swipe quite possibly saved the game.

While I felt a lot of bounces went Pittsburgh's way tonight, quite a few went towards us at the very end. To argue otherwise is ignorance

Agreed. At about 3 mins to go Jagr hit the post when he had a chuck of space to put the puck into the net. That right there all but ends the game. It wasn't the Pens defense causing that, it was just a turn of the puck. it's what happens in hockey and in sports. Regardless if there was some bounces happening in front of the net with less than 60 seconds to go and the Pens are doing little more than slamming the puck at the net and hoping to score, it didn't go in and there was no point that i saw where they had an open net and absolutely should have scored.
When someone looks at that and says the Bruins are lucky to win, that is little more than sour grapes. The Bruins won the game and few would argue that the wrong team won the game.

From the Superbowls to NCAA Final Fours, "luck" always factors in, but that alone doesn't guarantee squat. From the B's stellar play on D, the brick wall thrown up by Rask, the tenacious backchecking of the forwards, and the systems and lineups inserted by Julien is the real reason why the B's won. To come on here and discount the solid effort put up by the B's to shut out the highly-favored Pens(I even picked 'em in 6) in 4 games is the real ignorance. Time and time again great coaches find ways to exploit their opponents weaknesses. Then there are the times when coaches do that along with exploiting their opponents strengths as in the opponent refuses to see and/or change the obvious.

This series reminded me so much of the Patriots Super Bowl victory in 2001.
Belichick exploited the Rams weaknesses one of which was their lack of toughness. On top of that he exploited the arrogance of Mike Martz who refused to accept what he was seeing and thus stuck with the same game plan.

Martz could have changed the plan to exploit others on the team mainly Marshall Faulk ... but he did not. All Bylsma had to do was shuffle his lines ... put Iginla on the 1st line and go from there. Start dumping the puck in more rather than using stickhanding to work it in. Rask clearly saw most all Penguin shots ... there was rarely a Penguin body near the crease to block his vision. That's what happens when you stickhandle the puck in and work a shot. But he was so arrogant in thinking Malkin and Crosby would crack the defense that he ended up losing the series 4-0.

Yeah Rask played great as did Chara, Sidenberg, Krejci, Bergeron and Marchand ... but make no mistake about it ... Claude Julien spanked him and spanked him hard.
