DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION The Official Rounds 4-7 2013 NFL Draft Thread

Lattimore at the back of the 4th is a good pick, but there is a chance that this guy will never play football or at least anywhere near the level he was prior to his injury. Two major knee injuries already. A safe risk at the back of the 4th with a team that had a ton of picks. Not as safe at the back of the third with a team with less picks.

And Patton was the fourth WR taken today including one by the Pats. There was no way the Pats were going to draft him at 91. In fact, the rest of the league does not value the guy the way people on this board do.

Even if you don't take him at 91 it's debatable that Boyce in the fourth is better than Patton.

Still i think the consensus on here wanted Lattimore at least on the bubble

What safety taken since we took Harmon would you of rather had? Bill & Co. do their work. Lets trust them on this one. Tavon Wilson was the 2nd best rookie Safety last year after Mark Barron (taken 7th overall).
If Tavon Wilson was the second best rookie in last year's draft, there was no need to draft a safety until the 7th round.

Adrian Wilson
Tavon Wilson
Devin McCourty
Steve Gregory
Nate Ebner
Malcolm Williams

The New England Patriots already had six safeties under contract prior to the 2013 NFL Draft.

I love our draft apart from that mind boggling 91 just because when i see the talent that went around that pick it's frustrating that Bill pulled a fast one on us.

Even Logan Ryan is questionable when you think about it.

Just curious, do the Ravens boards have the same contingent of draft know it alls who bash every draft that the Patriots have?

We actually have the finest contingent of 3 years after the draft experts of any site in football. These guys were all over Mike Wallace in 2012, can't miss....,......

I would say no. There is definitely a contingent of people who criticize Newsome and say he is overrated, harp on the busts, and in general accuse everyone of being homers. Then again there are some homers that tend to argue that Newsome is infallible in all respects. But in general, the percentage of 'bashers' is much smaller on Ravens boards than I see here (at least looking at the comments regarding this draft and recent drafts)

That isn't to say we do not have the know-at-alls. There are plenty of posters on our boards that go into very detailed anaylsis and consider themselves NFL draft experts. It is just they also tend to 'agree' with Newsome's picks a lot of the time. These know-it-alls usually spend most time laughing at our competition's picks and calling various other GMs clowns, etc.

As of this moment, the Ravens board is experiencing its first wave of criticism for both 4th round Ravens' picks. The first three rounds' picks were almost universally loved or liked by Ravens fans.

Da'Rick is the next Dennard in this draft if you want a 7th round rookie starter, hope we do it.

I could see it. I just don't think he'll last past the 6th.

My gut says Marquess Wilson, Kenny Stills, Mark Harriosn or Courtney Gardner will be a Patriot with one of the 7th round picks if anyone of them is there in the 7th.

They all have either had visits or private workouts with the Pats

Dobson had a visit and supposedly a PW and Boyce visited.

So it seems like if they are going to pick a receiver it will be a guy that they have checked out personally.

Although if Rogers is there the value maybe be good to BB as they have three 7th round picks.

Belichick, Caserio, and their scouting staff obviously disagree with you on your assessment of Boyce and Patton. How many TCU and Lousiana Tech games did you actually watch this year. I guarantee you that someone or several people on Belichick's staff watched them all in detail.

Belichick may have been interested in Lattimore, but you don't know where he was willing to take him. He had five picks to take him and didn't clearly he didn't feel he was worth taking with any of his picks outside the seventh round.

If we got one of the two high ceiling troubled WRs (Wilson/Rodgers) that'd be swell.

I like those WR picks.

Andre Ellington is really falling. He's someone we've looked at although I'm sure he goes before the 7th. Still a possibility to bear in mind.

I really like the Lattimore pick they can afford to take a flyer with the guy, but you need to get a grip, best case is is a backup for Gore.

L James fills an entirely different role.

Gore will be 30 next month. Best case is that Lattimore is Gore's replacement in future years.

Even Logan Ryan is questionable when you think about it.

I have seen Ryan projected as high as the second round. Pro Football Weekly had him as the best nickelback in the draft with a 1-2 round grade.

All i know is when i see the playmaking ability of Patton, i like it. Boyce will probably be a great pick anyway. I wanted receivers so cannot complain apart from the 2 Rutgers picks.

Malcolm Williams is a fringe player converted from CB to S. Gregory can be cut at anytime with very little cap loss.

The only Free Safety taken since Duron Harmon is Duke Williams, who also doesn't have a very good grade and is 10 pounds lighter and an inch shorter than Harmon.

Well cross Kenny Stills off.

Interesting, thanks

Ryan Swope's tiny hands are really causing him to drop. Never thought Stills would go before him.

Another possible 7th round WR is Cobi Hamilton. Not a huge fan but good value in the 7th.

I have seen Ryan projected as high as the second round. Pro Football Weekly had him as the best nickelback in the draft with a 1-2 round grade.

The worrying thing about him is the susceptibility of being burned because of speed other than that he is a very very smart football player.

I'm not sure why the Logan Ryan pick bothers you?

2012-Dennard
2010-Deaderick
2009-Edelman

We're spoiled enough with 7th round finds that one of these 3 7ths better be a contributor.

I think the biggest difference between Pats and Ravens fans is that there is a small very vocal group of Patriots fans who think because they have Tom Brady that the Pats are almost guaranteed to win the Super Bowl every year and the only reason the Pats haven't won a Super Bowl since the 2004 season is because Belichick the GM has snatched Super Bowls away from this team. I mean the Pats were clearly the most talented team in 2007, but it was Belichick's draft that made David Tyree catch an impossible catch with his helmet.

Be forewarned, if the Ravens do win one or two more Super Bowls in the next five years, expect there to be a contingent of fans who expect the Ravens to win the Super Bowl every year and kill Newsome whenever they don't.

Nick Clancy, BC boy would be a great depth pick for us. Third in the nation in tackles and All ACC, kid would provide great ILB depth.
