Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

Once again, none of this is news.

Pretty sure this is news that no one knew :bricks:

Gronkowski was in California visiting friends recently, and when he woke up in the morning, his arm was swollen and he noticed some discharge. After he called the Patriots, the club quickly arranged for his cross-country return to Boston to address the issue. The timeliness was crucial to avoid any more serious complications.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

it's due to the infection...

yeah..they were always considering removing the plate..

Try to at least read the article first LOL

Grab a paper bag and breathe deeply.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

Goddamit, gronk's career is over, better draft a TE.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

maybe Gronk is only good for 15-16 games a season, best to have him at the end than the beginning

We'll have to wait and see. Life and football goes on.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

our current WR situation with the possibility of gronk missing TC and reg season...not good. Not how i wanted 1 of bradys 3 years to go at all...now our O is defiantly worse if he misses any time..by far

Man this kid has a lot of bad luck...pollard landing on ankle...broken forearm on PAT..re break on a weird landing and 2 infections

This still shouldn't be happening...i have a bad feeling as well

step back off the ledge

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

If he needs 10 weeks after the infection clears (just repeating from the story, I have no idea) then the infection needs to be gone by about mid June to have a 10 week window until late August/early September. That gives them 2 months and a week or so to get rid of the infection. I'm no doctor but that seems very doable.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

Does Gronk really need 10 weeks after surgery anyway. He needed 10 weeks after he broke his arm for the bone to mend. Would he really need the same timeframe for them to replace the hardware on a healed bone?

I am guessing the 10 weeks is becasue of the infection and how long until they think it's gone..but who knows

The article clearly states the 10 weeks is after the infection has cleared.

10 weeks does seem like a long time but even with that they have 2 months plus a week or two to get rid of the infection.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

Doctors need to replace the current plate in his arm, but they can't do so if the tissue is infected. That would require a surgical procedure around the tissue that equates to a 10-week recovery time, which would put Gronkowski in danger of missing the Patriots' season opener.

From the article

These infections can linger...for a while

From the article

These infections can linger...for a while

That would require another surgical procedure after the tissue around the injury is clear of infection and, sources confirmed, that would not give Gronkowski the required 10 weeks healing time to be ready for the season opener in September.
The article you quoted is poorly written because it's not clear what the 10 week period is.

The quote above is the original article - the 10 weeks is the period after the infection clears and the new one installed. Which means he has 2 months + a week or two to get the infection cleared so that he has 10 weeks before the season.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

This forum needs to take 20,000 Prozac and call me in August. This team has about 90% of the pieces in place and many of the posters are acting like it is the jets.

90% of the pieces to what, win a division title and one playoff game?

Lmao-You're right, i am wrong that something may or may not take place. That's breaking news, stay tuned, tomorrow something may or may not happen as well......................

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

Seriously people. Ron Borges continues to make some of you dance like he is the Pied Piper.

NONE of what was reported today is NEW. None of it. The infection was known about in February and was announced. The POTENTIAL of further surgery was known in February, either to remove/replace the 2nd plate or to clean out the infection if the antibiotics didn't work.

There has not been another setback, contrary to the reports. That is Ron Borges trying to make news where there isn't any.

Re: Gronk Suffers another setback

4 surgeries on 1 arm is very concerning
