Emmanuel Sanders visting today

What is means is that the game has changed to favor the offense. Our OFFENSE has not been good enough (or healthy enough) to win Super Bowls recently.

Obviously our defense can improve, and is improving. BUT in 5 of the last seven years, the SB winners have not been top defenses.

We need to be able to stretch the field against good defense. Our offense NEEDS to be unpredictable against good defense. Brady is capable of using 8 or even more receiving targets (3 WR, 3 TE, 2 RB), throwing to the open man, not caring at all who it is. We have been diverted by the greatness of Welker in the slot. We now need to extend the field.

I don't know what this means, but I do know that the 2007-12 offense was uber-elite, and yet it really struggled in the playoffs, certainly compared to its regular season production.

Very weird.

This got me thinking. I always said Brady was too reliant on welker and it made us easier to defend. Having 5-6 legit targets that can all get 600-900 yards will make us like the offense of old. The favorite receiver will be the open one.

Now I'm feeling better. Your post got through my thick head

You're getting it!

Welker isn't replaceable, but, he was over relied on, even if he put up monster numbers it may have been something hurting us, just well disguised. As unstoppable as we were most of the time, we were predictable, it only took a team with the required talent, which we often saw in the playoffs.

We need multiple legitimate targets, I don't know if Amendola, Jones, and maybe Sanders are, but we still have both of our TE's which are better than many teams starting WR's and they will be the focus of most teams now, adding "solid" WRs is a good thing even if they aren't flashy names.

I tweeted brows twitter comment to this girls

Erika Leigh ?@_ErikaLeigh

I wouldn't take @AntonioBrown84's tweet to mean that Sanders is signed. He's restricted, but he IS a free agent.

sanders would be a solid outside guy/deep threat if signed

its pretty clear that one thing this team is lacking is the addition of a deep threat...sanders would give us that..I dont really care about losing the 3rd rounder..sure we are short on picks.

but I would rather have a young guy who I KNOW is established in the NFL than a rookie who may/may not pan out.

and we've had alot of 3rd round busts

Havent seen many steeler games was this guy used on the outside? I noticed he's only 5'11 is he a sufficient deep threat?

Sanders / Jennings / Heyward-Bey

2 of those 3 PLEASE!

Then for our D, I can see Talib re-signing, along with drafting a CB in the 1st round

Not sure if this tweet was posted, I didn't see it :

Evan Sidery ?@ESidery

Just been told from a reliable source that Emmanuel Sanders has signed an offer sheet with the Patriots. Steelers have a chance to match it.

Please don't match please don't match please don't match

Please don't match please don't match please don't match

Pitt has 5 days to match I believe, this might be a topic for awhile, unless they just come out and say "hand over your pick".

If we get this done then Sanders and Amendola will be the starters with Jones as one of three others. Two more to go in the WR makeover. Lot of work to be done for the QB/WR to work well together but this was overdue. I'd still like to get Edelman back then one more true outside guy with upside in the draft.

If the deal is front loaded...they won't be able to

Pitt has 7 days to match. Long time. And if the deal isn't from loaded...Pitt will match

Ah, that sucks. I want my gratification and I want it now!

Hahaha reminds me of jim Harbaugh in that bad lip readers NFL video.

Is this assuming Lloyd is gone? I could see Lloyd-Sanders on the outside with Amendola in the slot or interchanged with the other 2 here and there.

If we are interpreting A. Brown's tweet correctly, the Steelers may have already told Sanders and his agent that they won't match. It is likely that the basic contract numbers were agreed upon before today and that he was in Foxboro for a physical and the sign it. The other possibility is the Brown has no idea how RFA works. The latter may be more likely.

Go watch one of his interviews on YouTube and you will know that the latter is 99% the case.
