Reports: Adrian Wilson, Abraham to visit Pats

Lmao at the guy saying were going to be a top 10 defense because of Abraham? He's washed up. Wilson I'm ok with.

If you view a potential Wilson signing as a swap of Chung for Wilson, it's an upgrade for the Patriots secondary.

The guy with 10 sacks last year is washed up, while the guy that was benched into a part-time role isn't?

And the Pats were 9th in points allowed last season, so I don't think a player can make a defense top 10 when it already was.

Re: Report: Adrian Wilson to visit Pats

I really don't want Abraham at all. He's a situational pass rusher at this point in his career, nothing more, and don't see how he fits this team.

Abraham
2012 10 sacks
2011 9.5 sacks
2010 13 sacks

doesnt seem washed up yet to me.

Keep in mind he is not being brought in to be a three down player. how could anyone not like this.

The NFL is a passing league. I can see plenty of situations where John Abraham will make an impact.

He's a 10 sack guy. You can't find enough 10 sack guys. If someone can offer me 10 sacks, I'll take 10 sacks thank you kindly.

Re: Report: Adrian Wilson to visit Pats

I loves me some Adrian Wilson. I really wanted him last year and ever since the rumors of his release a few months ago he was my top safety target this year. I think he would be a great signing.

You just answered your own question.

He's a situational pass rusher

He fits as a situational pass rusher.

Rushing the passer.... in.... situations maybe?

But its more than just the sack number. Sacks are great, but what we need to develop is CONSISTENT pass rush pressure.
Abraham is a professional top tier pass rusher. He has varied skills and moves, and a wealth of experience. He will absolutely draw the attention of the other team, and influence game planning. He will create opportunities for others.
His individual pass rush ability, skills and moves, will allow the team to be more effective blitzing.
Sacks are great, but the difference between Rob Ninkovich and John Abraham is huge, regardless of the # of sacks next to their name.

What do John Abraham and Adrian Wilson have in common?

Neither one can cover.

What else do they have in common?

Neither one has gotten a sack against a good offensive line in years.

Plus 3 Forced Fumbles.

Mostly agree with you, but having Abraham come in to give Nink and Jones a rest is a pretty big upgrade over our current backup DEs.

Or maybe it allows us to move back in the 3-4 Jones, Wilfork, Abraham -- Hightower, Spikes, Mayo, Nink looks pretty solid

The question I have is why did Atlanta give him a decent-sized contract, only to cut him a year later when he seemed to be performing up to the contract

Andre Carter was a good situational pass rusher (from what I remember). If we could get the same type of production out of Abraham then he would be an asset to this defense. Maybe I'm having a knee jerk reaction lol, but I just feel like this defense is in need of guys who make plays, albeit situational.

Does a lot to free up Wilfork, Jones and crew.

And besides, who wouldn't want Jones learning some of those pass rush moves from Abraham during all the workouts and practices?

Things are starting to get interesting.

Maybe BB has found the Fountain of Youth and plans on spiking their gatorade with its water?

Re: John Abraham visiting tomorrow...

.I just read a post by a "Patriot" fan that stated he really hoped and wished Wes Welker wins the Super Bowl with Denver this year....I mean...HUH?????????????????????????????????

That is phucking ******ed. These emotionally unstable drama queens need to grow a pair

He is taking Andre Carter's spot.
