Former Rams running back Marshall Faulk really needs to get over the Super Bowl loss to the Patriots. His crying, which he did again last week to Comcast’s Tom E. Curran, is just so tired and disrespectful. Faulk’s team lost to a tougher, more physical Patriots squad that just executed tremendously. Faulk should blame his coach, Mike Martz, for his game plan and failure to adjust.

Interesting insight as usual. Bedard does one of the best Sunday columns in a long time. Basically it came down to mano a mano in the trenches and the Raven's manos carried the day. That is why for all the clamor for skill players, wars are generally won or lost in the trenches. I hope for those who were in denial this confirms that the Ravens were in nickle for most of the game. Dared us to run and we just couldn't consistently enough to make them pay. We spent a lot of time running when we could this season. Still doesn't translate to running when we must. Vollmer must have had a real bad day at the office since he was the only one the line coach could bring himself to say something really negative about. Although Connolly didn't exactly get a glowing endorsement. Seemed to like Wendell and willing to look past Mankins injury riddled season. Seems to think Solder while still developing is the real deal.

They handled Vince on the other end and caught a break when Jones couldn't go (and probably as well when Love couldn't). Thinks more of Nink than some of his own fan base does. Would love to hear a frank assessment of the overall D from Pees.

I did see that during the game...with the way it went every team will choose the run as the poison they will accept and focus on the pass game

Although we really did not run that well, we stopped doing it, you're gonna have bad runs like you're going to have incompletions, you cannot give up on the run game when that happens

If our pass game is struggling, and the other team is in nickel we should run it, and continue to run it till the end of the game, bc that will tire out the other D and also help PA later on

Thanks for the link the comments by Brooks on the OL were interesting. Sounds like we are solid on the left side and at Center but need to upgrade the RG/RT positions (Vollmer being healthy would be the RT upgrade).

So does Canon step up and win the job from Connolley? Do we pay big $$$ for Vollmer with his back issue lingering?

It seemed we ran for 5-8 yards a fair number of times on first down only to get stoned on the next running attempts, how much did the right side of the line contribute to this?

You know, when you think about it, (especially as Brady is sacrosanct for many and as his play probably had something to do with the line play anyway) it's been the offensive line that has consistently underperformed in these past several games against tough defenses (that they seemed to handle in the regular season, but couldn't match up against come playoff time). I think this is an area where all of us may find common ground. Could they not open up holes and that is why we never pounded the ball in these games?

Teams which score a lot of points and want to score a lot of points are teams which want to throw the ball . Even if you completely sell out to let them run , they still need to pass, thats their identity. This is how we beat the colts/the rams etc. Pats right now are not an offense where brady hardly throws and the RB's carry the game. Without gronk and no outside deep threat, the 1-1 matchups are hard to win for our players all the time. People forget in the Texan playoff game, we were in so many 3rd downs and quite a few 3rd and longs because we converted all of them. That doesn't happen all of them and thats what came to bite us.
