I'd love that to happen because cap wise they'd have to lose starters since they have no cap room, Sanchez can't be cut because of his cap cost and they'd have all their cap $ tied up in the QB position with numerous gaps in the 53 unfunded.

I've got two theories about this:

Theory #1

The Jets were upset that even though Vernon Gholston was a historically bad bust, he wasn't the biggest bust of 2008. They want to correct that problem of only have the second biggest bust of 2008 on their roster by getting Russell.

Theory #2

Jets math stats that:

1 momumental bust QB drafted in the first 5 pick + another momumental bust QB drafted in the first 5 pick = Future HOF QB

Makes sense. He's one of the few players who could back up Mark Sanchez without creating a QB controversy.

I love the moment when it becomes so clear that a player sucks that even his most ardent supporters can't defend him. I'll never figure out why it took until 2012 for that to happen to Sanchez, when it was pretty obvious from his rookie year and indisputable by 2011 that he belonged in this category.
