Yeah but I bet they'd rather have lost if it meant keeping him healthy.

@AdamSchefter
Redskins placing S Brandon Meriweather on IR after he suffered season-ending knee injury.

But I thought every significant injury to a key player was a direct result of bad karma.

6-8 years ago, I wouldn't blink about this, and just say, "Well, Manning throws it every down anyway, they won't miss a beat."

But since he's gotten older (and consequently, started winning some big games in January), Manning has been more willing to hand the ball off when it's at his advantage. He'll miss McGahee when the weather gets cold.

So now it's officially the Denver Peytons.

With a D that was good enough last year to make the playoffs with Tim Tebow as QB, and has only gotten better. And their division is worser.

It was a lost year for Meriweather. I hope his leg heels properly and he's ready to go next season.

You know, I gotta give it to Manning. I didn't think he could strong arm John Fox, out of all people, to turn that offense into a one dimensional passing offense just like the Colts, but he did. He turned Denver's #1 rushing offense with Tebow into 19th. So much for balance. I thought John Elway said something about teaching Tebow something it took all his career to learn....he should also be teaching Peyton you have a very slim chance at winning superbowls without a strong running game. Heck, even we learned that.

See you in the playoffs Peyton! For a little while there I thought with Fox they could turn out to be something better than the Colts. But Colts in orange and blue doesn't scare me any more than Colts in blue and white did

PS: Your brother's team is still a better championship contender, and he's a better championship QB. Hero ball rarely works even in the NBA.

They've got an easy schedule coming up:

@Chiefs
Bucs
@Raiders
@Ravens
Browns
Chiefs

and they're playing in a weak division, so the Denver Mannings should be able to overcome this loss.

Should read, "With a schedule easy enough last year to make the Playoffs with Tim Tebow." Tebow started against four good offenses (SD, Det, NE, and Buf). Denver D played well against the Chargers, but allowed 40+ to each of the other three.

I agree though that they seem a little better this year. But they were an extremely overrated unit last year.

Yeah I noticed that he hands it off a lot until he gets into the red zone. His arm might get tired without McGahee.

Am I the only one who didn't think much of the Denver D when they visited Foxborough earlier this year? I thought we handed some *** to that D.

PM is having a very good year but with WM going down, the Bronks become even more one dimensional.

We'll see how they do @ BAL and vs TB.

Play action can be ignored

Other notable injuries today....

Our former all pro safety (haha) Brandon Meriweather has torn his ACL and is sent on IR playing in just one game all year for the Skins.

Byron Leftwich will be sidelined with 2 broken ribs suffered in last nights game against the Ravens - The Steelers are down to ONE healthy QB on the roster in Charlie Batch

Can this just be a thread for all injury/suspension/fine updates? Lol.

@judybattista NFL announces Ed Reed suspended one game for repeated violations of rules prohibiting hits to head/neck area. Wow.
