we have a tall corner. his name is ras-i-dowling. a tall corner who can play is another story....

I am unfamiliar with this person.

Are you sure you're not just drunk?

Mitch Petrus now on the team. It stood out to me because I recall him getting the most bench press reps ever at the combine. 45 reps of 225.

Are you suggesting that you'd rather give major reps to Arrington than Talib?

We're 6-3. We'll be in the playoffs. I would like to see Talib get as much experience with the defense as possible in anticipation of the playoffs. Talib is clearly one of our best defensive backs for every game, and we should put our best on field, unless injured.

Yeah, i want to see him as soon as possible too, but, while I don't pretend to be an expert in this regard, I do have the impression that the Pats coverage system is fairly complex (who goes where on which kind of play when the Offense lines up in which formation and Receiver X runs route A and Receiver Y runs route B and, well, you get the idea). In other words, it might take him more than a week to learn it, no matter how talented he is physically.

Ebner's seen more snaps on defense this season than he's seen the entire rest of his life. Talib would have to be a complete dumba$$ to not get on the field this week. If he can "do his job," he'll be fine.

I see your point and see the logic behind it. My counterpoint:While I'm not a current or former NFL or NCAAFB player, I have always looked at the ability to play the CB position and the island they sometimes sit on as half mental/confidence. Further, from what I have gathered from Talib, he is a solid to good CB but hasn't always played good.
With that in mind, if Talib starts Sunday, plays most of the game and the secondary shows no sign of improvement(still is porous)? I dread the din of the media and fans about what a joke the Talib trade was, how he sucks and/or the Patriots secondary sucks so bad nothing can change it (etc etc etc.....you get the idea). And this will have been only one game. This is why I wouldn't mind Talib inserted in at the right times and in an optimal position to succeed. I think he benefits from it, the secondary as a group will ultimately benefit from his confidence/full time play down the line, and the Patriots chances for the remainder of 2012 definitely benefit.

That is the theory I was working off....granted it is a bit shaky. Further, and again, I see the flip side of throwing Talib in and letting him do what he can do (and get him as weathered in a Patriot uniform as quickly as possible considering it is game 10 coming up).
