Bears

Bears defense scoring TDs in record numbers

They are scary good this year. They have about 8 or 9 defensive TDs 9 games into the season which is almost unheard of.. Man i wish our D was half as good. The only D i can remember being this good are the early 2000 Ravens....Were the 85 Bears this good?

That team is starting to fire on all cylinders. I really thought they were toast after Green Bay demolished Cutler and that oline. They've made a nice turnaround not to mention they have Alshon Jeffrey coming back soon.

They have zero shot as long as Cutler is their QB.

My pick for nfc champs before the start of the season but, I didn't think they'd be this good. With Cutler and Marshall they could implode at any moment....

I think its "only" 7 defensive TDs. I don't think they're better than the 85Bears, more like more opportunistic. They still can't seem to beat the packers.

Thanks for clarifying that for us , I havent seen a lot of the 85 Bears to do any comparison, but kept hearing abt this comparison on various sports networks yesterday.

I'm not sure they should be accused of peaking early as the Bears D is playing to the same level week in week out.

They look very formidable, but I remember a couple of years ago the D also looked very good and the Pats dominated them in the snow. Sure, this is a different defense, but I wonder if they can still be entirely neutralized by a shotgun 4 WR offense. They don't seem to do too well against a spread offense.

I think the Patriots offense can handle them.

the bears got to a sb, and almost won it vs peyton , based largely on their defense , and lost mainly because of an inept qb and also because indy was able to run very well on them in the sb.

if their current defense can replicate that and get to the sb, it wouldn't surprise me if they step up for a game and actually win the whole thing

but i'd love to see cutler fail them, like rex the wonder dog did

Turnovers and defensive touchdowns are a very volatile stat. It's nice that they are doing this now but it's not something that has ever been done consistently. Anyone remember the 2010 Patriots?

Also, Cutler is a better QB than most of you give him credit for. It's that offensive line...

You couldn't run on the 85 Bears, they would crush you behind the LOS with Perry and Dent waiting for you,you couldn't pass on the 85 Bears because you had either no time to pass before you got sacked and destroyed or you threw it up for grabs in desperation of saving your life.

Only Miami that season caught the Bears off guard on prime time, every other team was to be victims before the game kickoff

We probably will never see a defense like that again where there were virtually no holes on all starting positions and even the depth they had would have been starters on other teams.

The Bears defense that year made a scrub QB like Jim McMahon look good because for most of the season only 2 or 3 TDs in a game won the game for them.

I think Lovie Smith is one of the most underrated defensive minded head coaches in the league, possibly the best at getting his defense to dominate but Ditka and Ryan's boys were from another planet.

I don't think he is a bad QB. I think that his character is too volatile to get the job done when it matters most.

Its hard to give examples of this, well....because he has never played for anything.

His attitude will prevent him from winning anything.

Would be a great match up against the pats if it ever got that far.

We thrive off turn overs but sometimes find it hard against big WR's

Our Offense is good but the blueprint is get to brady and their DL is very good.

Would be a great game.
