Official Pats v. Seahawks postgame thread

This team is a 13-3 team at best.

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

People are getting caught up in the statistics of yardage etc and are ignoring the fundamental flaw of the Pats offense.
We have NO SIZE on the receiving corps and we have NO ONE who can get open more than 10 yards down the field.

Tom Brady has to be absolutley perfect to engineer these scoring drives because we aren't picking up yardage in big chunks.
To further complicate the issue, the lack of size is killing us in the red zone.
These other QBs have the luxury of tossing it up in the red zone and just having guys grab the ball. Or heaving it 50 yards down the field and getting cheap PI calls.
Brady has none of it. He has to be perfect.

Look ath the last drive today. Did anyone think they could even get a 1st down in that spot let alone 50 yards in a minute? THey can;t get the ball down the field and they can't score in the red zone because they have no size on wideout and no playmakers down the field. Branch stinks. Lloyd is a good possession guy. Welker the same. No deep threats. No big chunks of yards. No easy completions to tall WRs in the endzone.

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

Why do all of these trolls IGNORE the fact that we just faced the #1 defense in the NFL??????

It's mind-boggling!

We (?) had a chance to set them back several notches and failed. I remember late in the game, we had a drive to the Seahawks 5 or 6 yard line. The Patriots had a 3rd & 1 and after running 2 straight plays, Brady throws one up for grabs and gets intercepted. The next play Seattle ran a gadget play that led to a PI and a few plays later a TD. Yes the defensive backs got torched but the Offense should have prevented Seattle from having so many opportunities.

good game today! Thought we were done when we got down 13 to the number 1 offense, but my hawks continue to surprise me. Like I said, CLink is just a hard place to come play.

You guys carved us up yardage wise. Don't think I have ever seen this defense give up that many yards. I think Brady threw the ball some 58 times which is pretty impressive given the fact that its dumping rain here. Was really proud that my Hawks overcame some pretty stupid mistakes and some questionable officiating (on both sides) to beat a premier team.

Anyways, not here to troll, just wanted to say it was fun chatting with you all in the pregame thread. Good luck over the rest of the season!

No no no, everyone is wrong. It's because of the REFS that we choked today. And against the Ravens. And the Cardinals. And in the Super Bowl. And every other choke job this team throws up when the game is on the line.

This team will make the playoffs and lose to whoever they play in the first round. I shudder to think what Andy Dalton/AJ Green could do against this secondary come early January.

Vanilla Defense

I am sick and tired of this Vanilla Defense! I personally believe this is the major reason why are secondary is so atrocious. What happened to the good old days of Crenel and Mangini? I remember the good ol days, the NE patriots were renowned through out the league as the masters of disguising and scheming. You would need the likes of a Peyton Manning to decipher the code and even he failed many times trying to do so.

If our prior coaches could put Troy Brown, Je'rod Cherry, Otis Smith, Tyrone Poole and Randall Gay back there and make it work? But we can't with our current crop of first and second rounders. I refuse to believe that. I truly believe it is not really all about our lack of talent but more so our scheming or lack there of. If we cant disguise and scheme well, it just exposes our DB's with a very easy to read defense meaning anybody can chuck it up on us. I mean for God's Sakes, if RUSSELL FRIGEN WILSON could do it, anybody can. Hell i can read like 80% of the defensive play calling from my TV.

BB needs to stop being arrogant and hire a competent, well known defensive coach and demote Matt Patricia back to LB coach, where he is good at. I believe it will be an instant fix versus the thought of hoping one day we draft a Revis CB. My whole point is that we need to fix our defensive philosophy and schemes because it obviously does not work and hasn't work since Mangini left.

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

Yes, the defense sucked last year, worse than this year. And you predicted the same doom an gloom you are now.

You are one of the biggest Chicken Littles on this board. Sorry that I don't go overboard after a loss.

This team has more issues than we think, but they lost their three games by a combined total of 4 points and are likely to improve over the season especially as Hernandez gets healthier and these young players get more experience. I am not predicting Super Bowls, but this team should win the division and have a shot at a first round bye.

if you would see i didnt go overboard on losses this year to arizona or baltimore.. but its time to take the rose colored glasses off... this team and this qb and coach needs to be called out....

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

It's still early in the season and time to get the DB fixed. The rookies need more PT which they are getting. Dennard looks like he belongs. Hightower didn't play but will be back soon. Brady doesn't usually toss dumb INT's like today. The Pats have lost 3 games by 4 points TOTAL.....

Alot of prognosticators picked them to go 11-5....It's still not out of the question.

Lets see how they handle Sanchez and the Jets before going off a cliff.

There were some questionable coaching descisions and Brady had a couple of brain farts....Maybe it was the altitude

no way they should lose to a pete carrol coached team.. pete carrol is the worst coach and russel wilison is terrible.... coaching and qb play was awful in the second half... sorry

Just before the 1st half ended Brady had a wide open Gronk in the endzone and blew it. Then in the same series he got called for intentional grounding which cost the team a shot at 3 pts.
Don't put this game on the receivers. That's pure bulsh*&!!
This is on the QB and it's on the OC.
58 pass attempts. What a freakin' joke Josh!!!!!

Really???

Were you watching the same game. We moved the ball at will against them from 20 to 20, only to mishandle the clock (half) or throw an interception while our defense did their job for 3 full quarters.

We gave that game up through poor coaching and execution.

Yes I've watched every minute of every game this year (and every year for the last 20+)

The Seahawks might be a lesser talented team, but they're a better team.

Moving the ball "at will from 20 to 20" doesn't mean anything if you're not converting those chances into TD's and winning games.

It's funny, Patriots fans used to mock Colts fans a decade ago for their style of play (high octane offense that would be beaten by good D, an elite QB who would suck frequently in the 4th quarter in big spots and a D which couldn't hold leads).

The Seahawks are a well coached team with a tough, aggressive defense and a QB who has made clutch plays (against bad defenses, granted) to win games.

It used to be that people in New England called that the "Patriot Way"

Seriously though. The Pats as an 11-5 #3 seed could be interesting. I'm not scared of going to Baltimore or Houston, let's enter the bye at 5-3.

With our secondary, you might as well call the other team and tell them we'll be saving the plane ticket and not show up (use the money on DBs instead... )

Baltimore and Texas don't scare you? We just lost to Seattle and the cards for god's sake... and I'm not even counting the loss in Baltimore.

Until our secondary is replaced, we have no business in the playoffs. I feel sorry for our offense, who work their tails off out there just for the defense to come up on the field and give up the game.

Add to that our ***** play calling, and even next week's game against the Jets, is not a guaranteed 'W' anymore.

EMBARRASSING!!!

Getting prepared for the opposite of a well reasoned and calm discussion.

D came up with big stops for a while, but near the end Brady played as poorly as he could play. We got stuck in a situation where Seattle needed to throw and we were stuck with two rookie Safeties.

The sky isn't falling. We faced a good team and lost mainly because we beat ourselves. Obviously we need to get better, but we are in a position were we are more likely to get better than worse. That bodes well for our chances in November, which I still believe there is all the reason we will get to.

Even Michael Felger would agree that the Pats are lock to play into November.

still trying to figure out how you let up a bomb like that up by 6 from a guy that couldn't probably move the ball down the field inn the time he had. Amazing how bad this secondary is.

What is even more disturbing is that not only did they give up a 50 yard pass to lose the game the reciever did not get past one, but two guys to make that catch. The secondary on this team does not know what they hell they are doing.

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

You hear TB and all the Pats talk how it's all about execution. Well, at the end of the half, on Brady's Intentional Grounding in the Red Zone, along with his RZ INT - the execution was poor. Brady's and the coaching staff in particular. All they needed was 3 points out of what could have 14+ and they win the game. 3 points! The Pats execution when it really mattered was awful. Not to mention the execution on the play calling when the D forced a punt with 3mins left. Two runs and a long 3rd down try? Why not just ask Brady to hand the ball to Seattle and save him getting pounded. The coaching staff bears this loss as much as any. But either way, the poor execution was their failing. Where's the TB/Patriots killer instinct?

They weren't exactly lighting the world on fire with the run game.

They weren't exactly lighting the world on fire with the run game.

The bigger problem was that the time they committed to the run was the time when it was so obvious that it was easily stopped.

Bolden (pre injury) and Woodhead were running well. Ridley was the problem today.

***** HAPPENS !

Pats have lost to worse teams..Seattle has a top ranked D and gave up a ton of yds to Pats. Maybe they get to meet again in playoffs with different results.
