New York Jets Salary Cap Look at what Sanchez will make :singing:

Even with cuts they aren't going to have much space.

No, it will be hell. The Jets will cut Pace, Scott, and Jason Smith (Thomas is gone anyway), which are really the only players they can cut without taking a major cap hit, due to their constant maneuvering. Go jetscap.com for confirmation.

They may get a couple of guys to restructure as well, but not likely as this isn't exactly a championship contention discount situation. So, assuming they make those cuts, here's the cap money they'll save:

Smith (12M)
Pace (8M)
Scott (7M)
=27M savings in cap space.

But here is thing: the Jets were already at $141 in cap commitments for 2013, so this reduces the number to 114. 114, with a cap number likely coming in near 122. That's $8M they have left over. As I said, they may get some restructuring, but nothing close to where they need to be. Why? Because in that $114 in cap commitments, it doesn't include the following free agents and probable cuts. They'll need to replace the following players under this scenario:

Bart Scott
Calvin Pace
Jason Smith
Yeremiah Bell
Mike DeVito
Nick Folk
Shonn Greene
Dustin Keller
Laron Landry
Aaron Maybin
Brandon Moore
Chaz Schilens
Matt Slauson
Bryan Thomas
Ropati Pitoitua
Jay Richardson
Laron Landry
Patrick Turner

That's eighteen players, including a whopping 12-14 starters! (Some of them are borderline.) So, let me ask you something: how are you going to replace eighteen players, including twelve starters, with $8M? Even if they get some insane restructuring done, there won't be any way to replace these guys with anything other than scrubs. And that is just to stay at the same level they are now, which isn't very good. The Jets have no young players on the rise. They are screwed; please tell where I am wrong.

The brackets indicate that it would cost, not save the team that much per player to cut.

In a business forecast (number) equals a loss.

Maybe we should loan them the money to keep the players they have? Why would we want them to get rid of anyone? There are 12-14 perfectly good undrafted free agents out of college that would be an improvement over their current scrubs starting.

The problem is their talent evaluation, but you could say that about any team. It is the reason for our defensive decline and you can see it as the reason for every team's decline. Did you see Pittsburgh last night? They have injuries, but the bigger issue is not replenishing their defense. They are old and slow. Reminds me of the Pats around 08-09... it happened very suddenly, as they went from being a great unit to a liability almost over night.

Oh, thanks for the tidbit. I didn't know that.

I don't know how they can keep or cut Sanchez. I think Sanchez may be done as a starter in NY and they can't have a $12.8 million cap hit for a back up QB, but they can't take a $17 million cap hit for a guy they cut.

The best the Jets can do is go to Sanchez again and redo his deal. His 2013 money is guaranteed. So he isn't going to take an outright pay cut. I think they best they can do is ask him to take a pay cut this year of $3-5 million and then guarantee $4-5 million of his base salary in 2014 (in other words, guarantee $1 million more in 2014 than he takes as a pay cut in 2013). Even then, I don't know if Sanchez would do it and they will be in the same mess in 2014.

Tannebaum and Johnson were stupid to give Sanchez the BS extension after his feelings were hurt for the Jets going after Manning. Odds weren't good that he would see the additional years, but now that he is tanking it makes him uncutable and salary cap albatross.

Was drinking coffee and lurking around the Phins forum.

Even Dolphin fans are laughing at Jets fans now. lol.

If you were looking just at this season, to date, would you feel more confidence in Tannehill going forward, or Sanchez?

The fact that that's obviously a rhetorical question says a lot. lol.

the Jets are all so bad that it obscures how good they all are. I learned this by reading apologias for each player on JetsInsider.

This is the greatest line in the history of this thread, over all the years. I suggest retiring the thread now.

Through five games, the Jets LBs have combined for 4 sacks. They are on pace to beat Barwin's total from last year...by 1.5 sacks.

The Jets have two first rounders and one 3rd rounder on the d-line from the last two drafts. Those players combined have a total of 0 sacks.

I know, I know, the line in a 3-4 isn't supposed to rush the passer. I feel much better about the sack totals knowing the Jets are the 31st best team in the world at stopping the run...

The line between pro football and pro wrestling will further be blurred on Sunday.

That’s when WWE star John Cena serves as the honorary captain of the Jets before Sunday’s game against the Colts, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

As Mehta points out, Cena is actually a Massachusetts native and a Patriots fan.

The Jets likely were willing to ignore that fact given that MetLife Stadium will be hosting WrestleMania in April.

Jets lol. :singing:

Sanchez is the least of the Jets' problems. His head has been mangled by Rex, he has no help either at WR or RB, their defense is now pretty average. He's going to suck. Brady would suck down there and Sanchez would be at least as good as Cassell was in 2008 with the right coaching and personnel around him.

Jaws said he made plenty of really good throws against the Texans. Unfortunately they were either dropped or the routes botched. He's going to look much worse than he would be on a good team.

This is probably the worst and dumbest post I've ever seen on this forum.

The real question should be which one would perform better in NE. Put a real team around them and either one of them could be decent. Look at Alex Smith. What Rex did to Sanchez is a travesty.
