Nonsense, and more nonsense - forum overreaction to Arizona loss

I think what sets this loss apart from others is that it was to an inferior opponent so early in the season. When stumbling in past seasons, there was enough of a previous sample size to suggest that the loss was merely a 'one time blip' instead of a sign of things to come.
I beleive you need to get to the end ofthe season to really know if the team is good or bad, unless you are basign this off of last year's results?

With their defense if the QB can be like alex smith, they have a good chance at being in the post season. Plus, this isn't the first early loss that had them looking bad as a team.

I'm never happy with a loss, but it's not like we were blown out and didn't have chance to win it.

To the OPs point about the message board crapiness, Ian picked just the right time to add the Thread Ignore feature. I only blocked one poster in all the years and I forget who it was but I'm lovin' and usin' the Thread Ignore feature bigtime to make the board more readable and fun.

I confess I've yet to use it myself; I seem to be cursed with incurable morbid curiosity!

Why does it have to be all or nothing when it comes to defining posters? It's a natural reaction after a tough loss to ask what could've been done better-simply asking the question doesn't equate to thinking you're smarter than BB by default. By that I mean someone making a honest critique after one game is no more of a clueless chicken little than someone making a "nothing to see here" post is a blind homer.

I'm more of a lurker but the lectures about how one should or should not react after a given game comes off as a bit pompous.

Waxy,
Just take any thread started by Linda The Pats Fan or me and use Thread Tools at the top and Ignore it!

I've been ruminating over the theory that "Linda The Pats Fan" is Felger's new screen name.

Your threads are fine, though. At least they seem coherent to me. But then, I usually drink when I'm near this board anyway, so what do i know?

Really? Cause this feels pretty normal to me after a loss. Halfway through the Cards game I knew the board was going to be extreme kneejerk reactions. It happened last year except instead of WRs it was the Secondary.

But the secondary was actually horrible last year. We'll see about the WRs, but Lloyd has been consistent (yet unspectacular), Welker has been spectacular (yet inconsistent), and Edelman looks like he can play. The only knock anyone can ever make on him is that he's a "bad luck charm."

Well my point wasnt that they were not bad. It was some members on the forum claiming that Belichick didn't know what he was doing. Just like people are saying him letting go branch and gaffney this year and not playing welker is showing that he is vengeful and stubborn and doing too much. Now some feel vindicated because Welker has to be played more and they brought Branch back when it was probably the plan all along once an injury happened.

You always get those the sky is falling people after a loss and I think too many people listen to Felger as though he has something intelligent to say about football. I get a kick out reading the reactions to past moves that BB made when "he lost it" and to hear what the geniuses like Borges and Cafardo had to say after those moves.

and remember after we lost to Buffalo 31-0?

Actually one of the mods have said that Linda the pats fan is the return of NEM, who was a longtime pain in the butt poster here and was banned.

I saw it in one of the threads where they had her name faded out (meaning she is now banned) with the comment "(was actually NEM)" in parentheses.

If true, that is absolutely crazy. I'm very curious to know if that is correct or not, and who actually found that out.

As far as PWP goes, he's one of the classiest on the board. :rocker:

I think that you make a lot of sense with this comment, but his thoughts are not necessarily pointing to those who bring up reasonable topics in a respectful way.

His comments are pointed towards the masses who make a lot of assumptions which are often wrong.

Either way I'm all for the right to voice one's opinion too, but idiotic thoughts (and I don't mean to be harsh to anyone not seeing the same as me) sometimes spread like wildfire around here, and the negativity is just not really good for the forum.

I think it's all about how one goes about it myself, but like I said--to each his own at the same time.

I agree that it doesn't always have to be homers vs chicken littles though, a decent balance is just fine.

Maybe we're saying the same thing but the only negativity that truly hurts a forum is when one poster dimisses another by seemingly questioning their loyalty or intelligence. I enjoy the point/ counter point debates on what folks think of what is going on with the team good and bad. Constructive critiques that you don't like or agree with are not bad for the forum. The forum would be rather boring otherwise. Sure there are some ultra negative posters but there are just as many 'Dear Leader-North Korea' types here as well.
