Take a look at some of the players left for day 2!!!! omg there are really some gems left to be drafted in round 2... i dont think we should trade unless we move back a few spots and get some more picks for within round 2 and maybe one more in rd 3. There are really some standouts here but we'll see how it all works out. good night everyone and see you here tomorrow...

2012 Draft: Best Available Players for Day Two | NEPatriotsDraft.com - 2012 NFL Draft

I'm really hoping the Pats can acquire a third by trading down in the second...

Then they could grab any three of the following:

* Konz C/G
* Carter FS
* S. Hill WR
* K. Reyes DT
* D. Still DT
* D. Wolfe DE
* Cornerback TBD

I have a couple of hopes that will go unrequited, I imagine.

1. Jenkins at 48

2. TJohnson at 62

If its true that Jenkins is off the Pats board then I'd rather go with a defensive lineman like Still, Reyes, Thompson, or Worthy at 48 and stay with the Johnson at 62, than draft a midget CBs like Boykins Flemming, or Hosely.

BTW- I'm drafting Johnson as a S with CB skills

to be honest, I'm perfectly happy with just Casey Hayward for the safety position and Ron Brooks for the nickel. I'd love a nickel backer (Lavonte David, Mychal Kendricks) and/or an interior rusher type like Derek Wolfe or if the plan is to send McCourty to safety, then the best outside corner still available, Jamell Fleming.

A WR and a CB in round 2

Alshon Jeffery
& Casey Hayward

CB (Jenkins/Johnson), DT (Still/Worthy/Thompson/Reyes), OL (Allen/Konz), or WR (Hill/Adams/Quick).

I like Jeff Allen for the OL, he can play G and T on either side, a great swing backup for now who could start at Guard in 2013 post Waters or Tackle if Vollmer is gone.

I would like one good secondary cover guy, there's a bunch of CB. And a coverage LB would be nice although we only have two picks as of now.

If the pick is Jeff Allen then there is a leak in the organization,

It just occurred to me that, assuming we don't pick up any extra picks, knowing #62 is our final pick, we could steal a march on other teams and pick up a high upside later rounder. Most obvious:

Ryan Broyles
Greg Childs
Josh Chapman
Joe Adams

It's probably not the way they go, as of now we have 2 picks to fill 4 needs (nickle backer/CB/S/DT) but all four of those could end up being a real steal.

I think Jenkins is gone before 48. The guy is too talented for some team not to take the risk

I've just seen a day 2 mock that has us taking Jamell Fleming and Brandon Boykin. I would seriously love that.

Mike Loyko of NEPD says he's been told that Jenkins is off our board altogether.
Been told by someone that nailed our first 2 picks and knew some of the other picks before the likes of Schefter that he was actually high on our list for Round 2.

I don't see Pacman 2 in our future.

i do think Bill figures a way to get Adams in the 3rd.

My picks for round 2 are:

Kendall Reyes DT/DE
Trumaine Johnson CB/FS
Vinny Curry DE/OLB

I doubt we'll get any one of these players. I think its critical to get another DB. I think we can survive with the Dline man we have. Vinny Curry is my Binkie pick who I think could replace cunningham and would give us an awesome stable of pass rushers.

If Hill somehow lasts to #48, he's worth the bust risk as a mid-2nd round pick with the ceiling of the best WR in the draft.

I'd rather have us looking to add depth on D

Hill wouldn't do **** for us this year anyways.

While I think they will likely trade the 48th pick, I would stay there and draft the BPA. There will be a quality player available that should make an impact with that pick, so I would like to keep it. If we do stick there we are guaranteed to get one of these guys (probably 2 if we also keep 62)

OL
Cordy Glenn
Mike Adams
Jonathan Martin
Peter Konz
Amini Silatolu
Kelechi Osemele

WR
Alshon Jeffery
Mohammed Sanu
Rueben Randall
Stephen Hill
(TE) Coby Fleener

DT
Devon Still
Kendall Reyes
Jerel Worthy
Brandon Thompson
Billy Winn

DE/OLB
Courtney Upshaw
Andre Branch
Vinny Curry
Ronnell Lewis

LB
Lavonte David
Bobby Wagner
Zach Brown
Mychal Kendricks

CB
Janoris Jenkins
Trumaine Johnson
Brandon Boykin
Casey Hayward
Josh Robinson
Jamell Fleming

If somehow Charley Casserly's mock is right and Upshaw falls to 48 I would jump all over him. Hopefully before the start of round two they can move some of the expendable guys (Hoyer, Cunningham, Brace, Wendell?) and get some extra picks later on.

I think Indy takes Upshaw at 34. They are switching to the 3-4 and looking to deal Freeney. They will need a stack and shed olb. Upshaw would be a good fit. Put Mathis on the weak side. Bedard has been saying we like Trumaine Johnson. I think Jenkins or him might fall to 48. I think a lot of wr's and ol are going at the top of round 2.

Gotta get some defensive backs. Janoris Jenkins if you are feeling reckless or a safer CB...

And today I don't want to hear anyone say "I knew that they were going to take Hightower or Jones..."

BTW Felger will be delighted with the picks last night; a bad sign.
