It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Seems like a lot of people were down on Jones, before the draft, but after the first 20 votes on how the pats did in the draft, (on the patsfans main message board) they got 18-A's and 2 B's
HMMMMMM......?
I'll just suck it up, eat my words, and admit I was wrong!
Hopefully, Chandler Jones will develop, over the course of time, into the next Willie McGinest.
I initially envision Chandler Jones as a defensive end in the 4-2-5 sub package. We could of passed on him and I would of been ok with it. To be honest I didn't watch 1 Syracuse this year and his film has very limited access. He's the pick, I'm on board with the pick because Belichick might know a little bit more about football than I do I'm really excited to see if he can be the player they are hoping for. Looks nice coming off the edge, and he is a good run stopper by most accounts and that is probably a big part of what BB likes about him.

For what it is worth, the NFL Network says the Pats really really like Jones.
Citing a source with knowledge of the situation, NFL Network's Stacey Dales reports that the Patriots "really, really like" Syracuse DE Chandler Jones.
Dales is currently in Foxboro, so this is a step up from your normal speculation. Jones is projected to come off the board in the middle of round one, but New England doesn't pick until No. 27. They'd likely need to move up, at least, a half-dozen picks to land Jones' services. Skyrocketing up draft boards over the last few days, Jones would help replace the snaps of free agent Andre Carter.

Somebody nailed it!
Would you have picked Jason Pierre Paul last year? The Giants took a chance on measurables of a 1 year guy from Haiti via Florida -- and got themselves a beast. Jones comes w/ similar measurables, good motor and good pedigree. Of course, he is a projection. Who isn't?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I say bravo!
My trust in Stacey Dales just went up a few points today. She's my new Adam Schefter
You mean he right?
No, not everything can be coached, far from it, if that was the case you wouldnt see so many washouts in the league. Also, feel free to look up how many players with elite length have never amounted to anything.
Reaction time combined with explosiveness, "Launch" as Grid would say, is one of THE most critical attributes in a player, if Jones doesnt have that he'll stink. If a player has "length" in addition to that, great, without it he can have arms like a Gibbon and it won't matter.
He does not have that. He doesn't have top end speed either. See the Pitt game when he gets run down from behind by an offensive tackle after an int. I do not see any of the athletic ability I keep hearing about. He put up avg numbers against avg competition, and his explosion measureables prove why. How is he going to become a disruptive force against competition that is night and day above what he faced?
I see a less explosive Shawn Crable. Crable had better measureables, and he had better production against much better competition (Big 10 OL). Jones was an avg player in college. Where is the evidence he will be a good player in the NFL?
Are you sure Crable had better measureables? The guy was 6'5 243 his weight and strength were highly questionable to put it mildly, Crable was available in the 3rd round for a reason even with that production in the big 10.
Crable had more BP reps (29 vs 22 I believe), much better 40 and 10 yd split. Most importantly, better production against much better competition. Where is the evidence that shows Chandler Jones can produce as a pass rusher? I don't put everything on measureables, but when you combine a lack of measureable explosion with minimal production against questionable competition I have serious doubts. So far the only reason we have to believe this guy has a "high ceiling" is because analysts tells us he does. There is nothing from his measureables or production that backs this assumption.
