So I heard it said that you need 5 million for draft. and maybe 2 million for emergency pick ups?

And beyond that what you don't spend this year rolls over into the next year.

So I would think the Jets, and Fish are done with FA at least till after the draft.

The Bills and Pats still have $ to judiciously work the FA market, and I would expect these teams to continue working the FA market to improve there team.

That said I do not see any BIG FA acquisitions in the near future for the AFCE.

Also relevant is how much your guys get paid from #52 on. PS minimum? Rookie minimum? Vet minimum? Even more?

Had Peyton known this earlier he would have chosen the Pats (ofcourse as a backup to Hoyer who is a backup to TB)

Save the rest after draft for next year. Like the team as it is besides RB and CB

Trade Brady and we'll have just enough for Forte + Mike Wallace :rocker::rocker:

Draft only costs 2.5 mill, because of te Top 51 Rule.
Pats can save millions by singing Welker long term.
There is plenty of room for a top end FA or even 2 if Welker gets redone.

Lets also remember Light is "strongly considering retirement". Or, at least, news outlets are speculating that he is. He would clear up some extra cap space but would also create a hole in the roster. Figure Solder would start at LT but we'd then have very little quality depth on the line.

We can lose either Light or Waters and still have better quality depth than most teams. Lose both and we'll need to add a vet.

They should cut someone to make it $10+ mil ... $9.9 is like a Walmart price.

Why stop there??

After Light retires, Ocho is cut and Welker signs a new deal that number will get up to $15M (total guess). Bring in Lardarius Webb and Jonathan Stewart.

They might need to trade Hoyer too.

Yeah, and part of the reason for that is that there aren't really any more "BIG" free agents left...

FWIW, because of the Top 51 rule (as someone else noted above), it basically works out that the base rookie salaries are already accounted for on the cap. So the "new" cap money typically works out to the signing bonus prorations of players taken in the first four rounds, minus about $200,000 each (e.g., a rookie getting $500K per year in SB will probably add about $300K to the cap). Lower-drafted players generally don't crack the top 51.
