5 years from now. This kid is 6'5" and 225 pounds at the age of 16.

Word is he's the highest rated TE in high school football over the last 4 years.

He's said to have committed to play for Bill O'Brien at PSU starting in 2013, graduating 2017.

He'll be picking up the Patriots offense so he can hit the ground running for the Patriots in the Fall of 2017.

By the way, this is top notch high school football, PA has good ball. He plays for Chad Henne's old high school.

I have been thinking about the third TE situation and the fact that we do not have a lot of day three picks.

So I have zeroed in on a UDFA target that makes a lot of sense for us. It is the TE for UCLA. He has a funny name Ezebebca?

But he could be the best blocking TE in this draft, he blocks about as well as a back up OT.

The question is what does he run? If we can get a 4.8 out of him, he might be worth signing.

Wow, really??

I dig that.

I'm an Historian in all things, and though my knowledge is pretty shallow about FootBall, I know enough to know that Pennsylvania was pretty important to the development of Professional FootBall, from about 1900 to 1930 ~ though not as important as Ohio, of course.

Looking at the roster, I don't see any TE by that name (or anything close). . . .

Don't forget, BTW, that there is one more Gronk in the pipeline. Supposedly Glenn Gronkowski is even more talented than GRONK.

I, too, am mystified...

My best, educated guess is that he means Andrew Szczerba of Penn State.

But even that is getting 20-1 in Vegas...

I've seen Glenn in person (I grew up in same town as the Gronkowskis) and he doesn't have the frame that Rob has. He might be an inch shorter but 20lbs lighter. Should be a great pass catching TE nonetheless.

Don't know about that. He might has to play FB at Kansas State. We'll see how he does in spring training.

He plays for Henne's old high school coach. Cantafio. Different high school. Cedar Crest is Kyle Brady's former high school not Henne. Henne went to Wilson HS outside Reading. Cedar Crest is near Harrisburg. Pennsylvania HS football has been slipping. Not totally sure why. Similiar numbers to Ohio in terms of youth in high school. Only half as many play football.

Cory Harkey? He is from UCLA, will run slow, and is probably the best blocking TE in the draft. In my 2nd mock I had the pats picking him up in the 7th because he was he was ranked #235, now for some reason he is ranked #112. Thats too high for me to want to pick him. Egnew at #133 would be awesome though.

Only way we'd ever draft him is if he fell to us late in the first/second and if we let Hernandez walk.

I'm a little surprised none of us have discussed Brad Smelley of Alabama for that backup pass catching TE role. Isn't an in-line blocker and won't set the world alight with his athleticism but he's a really good catcher of the ball and very good blocking in space. As a backup to Hernandez, I think he'd be ideal...and cheap-ish.

Urban Meyer is recruiting him. Wohoooo!

We certainly have some eyes/ears in the Big 10 now. Urban Meyer at OSU, BOB at PSU and Kirk Ferentz and Son at Iowa. I'm curious to see if BB visits any of them. Not sure he wants to overplay friendship with Meyer while irritating Ferentz and BOB.

Acc to Meyer, they are "close" friends". Plus BB's daughter is the women's lacrosse coach at OSU.

Fun facts from this article on Breneman:

(1) Gee, I wonder what film BOB showed him on a visit to PSU?

[Breneman's visit]included lunch with the coach and a film session where O'Brien showed Breneman clips of Patriots tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

(2) Breneman's obviously intelligent.

"It's neat," Breneman said. "Especially all the success that he had in New England with the offense and being Tom Brady's quarterback coach. Arguably the two best tight ends in the NFL were both under him. It's exciting to see the success that he's had, but at the end of the day you're going to the school as a player, not as a fan. So you have to separate the two."

[OK, so Graham had better stats than Hernandez. But Hernandez is probably the best "move" TE in the NFL.]

I wouldn't dispute your first post, but this is silly. Texas is top notch hs ball. Florida is top notch football. California is top notch. Pennsylvania is not in that class, and isn't really even in the next tier with Louisiana, Mississippi, etc. Football is just different in the south. It is religion in a different way.

Revis, Ditka, Marino, Kelly, and Montana just to name a few came from PA. Pennsylvania does have good Football. It doesn't engulf the entire state but there are certain pockets that turn our really great players. California gets a bit more credit than it deserves. I'd put PA and CA on the same level, maybe give CA a slight advantage.

Anyone else still curious about who the hell Ochmed was talking about??

As far as TEs, my favorite is Orson Charles. He should be a first rounder or early second rounder. The 57th he is listed on CBS is a steal.
