Re: Greg Doyel:BB stupid to use Edelman at CB

Deus Irae:Greg Doyel stupid to write such an article the week before the Patriots play in the Super Bowl

Re: Greg Doyel:BB stupid to use Edelman at CB

How many Superbowl Rings does Greg Doyel have?

Re: Greg Doyel:BB stupid to use Edelman at CB

I agree BB is an idiot. How does he expect to make it to the Bowl playing a converted WR at nickle.

CBSSports: Stupid to Pay Gregg Doyel for Troll Post Quality Articles

I've seen so much TV at this point, especially this afternoon with Gruden, Ditka, A Pierce, Rice, Schlereth, Bruschi, Dilfer, etc., and then Stephen A. and Skippy, and also Reiss, Cimini and Ohm, that I'm half convinced the Patriots are going to get blown out.

I mean, you have coaches and top player talking about the Patriots losing at all phases of the game, even special teams.

You listen to enough of this stuff and it's convincing. It's like Chinese water torture.

I've watched none and I'm feeling pleasantly good about the game. Of course, I realize we could very well lose because it already happened. I feel like i'm in a far greater state of mind.

I have to laugh when these self proclaimed "genius experts" claim to understand what a legendary head coach with 5 Super Bowls and 40 years of experience is thinking or planning.

It is the height of arrogance for this nobody writer with no meaningful credentials to post such garbage.

Yes we get it..Edelman is not a first round draft pick CB...I also think there may be a bit of reverse racism here (how many cornerbacks are white?)

But NOBODY ever said that Edelman was going to play nickel CB except in an emergency situation.

Its shmuc** like this guy who try to get people to read his crap article by twisting and distorting facts and hopping on the Mario Manningham bandwagon...

This is CHEAP and lazy journalism that we have seen so much of this week

I'm extremely nervous about the game. I just hope bill can coached the defense beyond their capabilities and BOB, Brady, mcdaniels, and bill can have excellent execution on the offensive side of the field.

Below is Gregg Doyel's autobio on CBS Sports, I think it puts the article in its proper perspective.

Hi. Hello. Congratulations, you found me. And I know why you're here -- it's because of that column you just read. It angered you. So here you are, trying to decipher my motives.

Good luck.

I was born in Hawaii, raised in Oklahoma and Mississippi, went to high school in Wisconsin and Georgia, then attended University of Florida. If you can figure out why I ripped into your favorite team from those clues, more power to you.

Whatever the case, this is my bio, so this is me: I write, fight and read for fun. Walked into an MMA gym to see what it felt like to get choked out, then decided to stick around. Authors? Tried to get into David Sedaris and failed. Tried to get into Jonathan Franzen and succeeded. But my favorites are Chuck Palahniuk at his best, and Matt Taibbi at his worst. And me. I'm underrated.

Come back on Thursdays for that embarrassment to journalism I call Hate Mail, and follow me on Twitter, where my meltdowns are accidental comedy gold.

Personally? I have three dogs, two kids and one wife. And that's none of your business.

As for your original question ... maybe I just don't like your favorite team. Ever think of that?

Relax, they have it under control.

Have a bad feeling the defense gets torched.....UGH

I really don't. I think this is a great matchup for our defense with BB having 2 weeks to focus on gameplanning. Add to that the fact that Eli has put himself in a position to need to prove he is elite, and we have bingo.
The gameplan I expect BB to put in is a bend don't break plan that forces them to move the length of the field in small chunks. Invite them to run. Keep everything in front and make the read be the short stuff. In other words if they take what the D gives them, they will have to be patient. They won't be. Eli will force the ball into coverage. When we disguise he will expect the intermediate and deep throws to be open presnap, then they won't be after the snap. Will he take the check down? Or will he move around and wait for deeper patterns to come open, giving the pass rush an advantage?
Eli Manning is a decent QB and not much more than that. Scheme will expose that tomorrow.

I'm actually worried more about getting pressure on Manning. I hope you're right..Chung needs to step up coverage wise. I've been cynical about this defense all season long, I just hope they shut me up tomorrow.

If Eli has the ball last then I'll really worry, I don't have confidence in our defense to make a stand. Flacco went down the field with ease, luckily Moore made a good play.
