That long bomb with 6:00 to go in the 4th...

Nothing wrong with taking a shot if its there. It was so obviously covered that I can't believe Brady threw it.

Exactly. We would have all called it genius if it had worked, but that play had failed before Brady released the ball.

They went for the double whammy after Spikes INT and executed pretty poorly. Bad pass, bad target, just bad.

It would have been a head scratcher even if completed.though an exciting one. Why not chip away, hopefully come away with seven and a couple minutes left on the clock. Aren't those the circumstances you want to give them the ball with?

I will never ever understand that call on a day where Tom was off anyway.

Also, you do have to admit it was one of those one i'n a million plays with the way the one guy tipped it to another. It could have easily hit the ground (wish it had.) really athletic play by them.

I was so angry when it happened, because it was a very un-Patriot move. Would love to get a video breakdown on what the hell Brady was thinking.

The ball has been bouncing our way this year. :D

Its is VERY Patriot-like to go for the throat after a turnover at midfield.

Bad call by BOB, under throw by TFB and great defensive tip and lucky pick by the Ravinz

this was like the 2003 champ game at pitt after the 4th down stop and brady hit branch for the TD. But this play and this game in general really shows our need for a deep threat WR...

More to the point it didn't appear to play the situation, which has been the Patriots mantra under BB.

re-ost my thought here I guess.

I didn't mind the call. If it was there then that's game over. It was stupid to throw into that coverage, but even so it was a 1 in a 100 type INT.

If they make the TD this isn't a discussion. People praising the balls of the coaches and going for the throat etc. Obviously the wrong play call+throw and a waste of a time killing opportunity that could of led to more points.

It's in the past though. It really doesn't need discussing. It would be like arguing the 4th and 2 call vs the Colts that failed. Doesn't change a thing. We won the game.

My reaction was WHAT THE F#%$^&@$#$^&*K WAS THAT ?!?!

I'm an old guy and have seen lots of football, and that was the stupidest playcall I've ever seen.

With the bad night Brady was already having against that pass defense, to call a bomb with NO deep threat receivers, is beyond any excuse BOB could ever come up with.

Sorry BOB, YOU DON'T HAVE A DEEP THREAT.

Thank God you're going to Penn State.

I'll go take an extra blood pressure pill now.

Oh Yeah... YAY SUPERBOWL !!!

The call wasn't that bad.

Catch the D off-guard trying to defend the short game, use a seldom-used wide receiver to draw less attention, go for the dagger to put the game away.

Of all the outcomes, there could've been:

1) A Long reception and/or TD
2) A defensive PI call that would effecively be the same as #1
3) An incompletion
4) A deep interception

Admittedly the execution wasn't that great -- the Ravens D wasn't fooled and Slater was well-covered, but that was still a pretty fluky interception in my mind.

If they had just gotten an incomplete on that ball, it would have been 2nd and 10 with no real damage done. It was a worthwhile gamble.

That was dreadful.
I cant believe BOB called that and Brady actually tried it.

Ok. I'm tired of people talking about a play and saying 'I can't believe the OC 'called' that'

Nobody 'calls' a pass play with a single possible outcome with the exception of gadgets.

On every play there are 5 routes, excepting situations where someone is kept in to block or when it's a WR screen where others are supposed to be blocking.

The QB reads the coverage based on what he is seeing pre-snap and then he makes his reads. Brady either made a bad pre-snap read or decided to risk it going for the killing blow.

I'm not defending Brady here, but to put this on BOB is flat out wrong.

True. I just, from a time management perspective, I'd rather give them the ball back up 10 with three minutes on the clock, not six. So even if it had worked, it was a strange call and SUCH a momentum killer.

I had no problems with the play call. It wasn't a bad one as we could have killed the game there. However, the problem was with Brady forcing that. Slater wasn't even behind the safeties.

Play call: 5/10
Decision by QB: -5000000/10

This is easily one of Brady's worst decisions ever.

It was a bad call when your deep threat is Matthew Slater.

Although I know the Pats have done this for years, with being thin at receiver I thought it was it was the wrong call. Personally, I though taking a knee with almost a minute left in the half with two time outs was a dumber move. I know Brady wasn't having a good game, but they could have gotten at least three points out of it.

That said. The Pats won. It is all academic at this point. At least the Pats mistakes were more of the dumb variety which are correctable in two weeks.

I know we're all excited, but this NEEDS to be discussed.

Brady is trying to live up to his hype. He needs a slap and to be reminded this is a team sport and it is not about him and his legend. His play was very self centered today.

This. I don't know who called that, but let's hope it's not repeated in the Super Bowl. It can wait until next year, after the Patriots get a legitimate medium-deep receiver.
