Bring on the Ravens

He was their 1st or 2nd leading receiver every year except last year.

Decent receiver. Good deep threat. No much of a chain mover anymore and hes lost some speed. They'll keep and eye on him but hes not a major concern.

Thats nice to know. Now I'm even more excited. Can you confirm this as an official position ?

Was he double teamed as the Bills prime receiver ?

How do you explain his 'non-performance' against the Patriots historically.

All World DBs in single coverage ?

Why would Lee Evans not be considered a serious threat being the 'non-prime receiver' against a Team with one of the worst pass defenses this season having to contend with Boldin and Smith ?

Please explain this to me.

This makes absolutely no sense. He has been the third option for the Ravens in every game he was healthy enough to take the field. Tell me how much he produced in these occasions.

He's not considered a serious threat because he hasn't been a productive NFL receiver in a while. That's it. The Patriots have Welker, Gronkowski, Hernandez and Branch. Does that mean that Ochocinco, being the fifth receiving option, is dangerous because teams won't slide coverage his way? No, it means he's old and slow and hasn't picked up the system, that's why he's the 3rd WR on the team. You shouldn't worry about him even if he gets single coverage all game long, just as we shouldn't worry about Lee Evans, seeing as he's gotten single coverage on every play he saw the field for the Ravens and has done absolutely nothing with these opportunites. In which game was he a big factor?

Didn't you know? All message board banter is every team's official position.

Why would Patriot fans be worried about a player who has done nothing all season when they have Rice, Boldin, and Smith and the Ravens defense to worry about? We are as worried about Evans as you are about Ochocinco and Tiquan Underwood, the difference being that we understand why you wouldn't care about them whereas you seem to think the Patriot fans should be worried about the Ravens ballboy getting into the endzone, and if we aren't then we are "disrespectin'.

Holier than thou football team, holier than thou fans. Also goes hand in hand.

With the slight difference that you were the ones who came to a Patriots board to mouth off. Details.

You should not be excited. He was their best receiver and was shut down time and time again because the Pats played him over the top because those are the only routes he can really run. Why would he be better at a 3rd WR? His wheels are not what they used to be and is not the kind of receiver that is quick (as opposed to fast). Sitting in zones (which he will need to do) is not his strong suit.

The Ravens need WRs that have good hands and can convert a ton of 3rd downs vs the Pats. Seeing that Boldin and Smith catch 53% of the balls thrown to them, Evans will not help you in that area.

I'm sorry I don't recall a game where we were facing such an invitingly weak pass defense. Cam may dial up some calls to exploit this. Maybe some 3 wide sets.

I just think he could be an X-Factor with Torrey and Boldin drawing all the attention.

My bad.

I for one am deathly afraid of Lee Evans and his grand total of four receptions in nine games this year. :scared:

Let's compare the Pats & Chargers pass defenses:

Yards per attempt: SD 7.9, NE 8.0
Opponent QB rating: SD 92.5, NE 86.1
Opponent completion %: SD 62.6%, NE 62.4
Interceptions: SD 17, NE 23

Be careful what you wish for ... you may want to recall how the Ravens game against the Chargers turned out - and that's before comparing the SD offense to the NE offense.

I enjoy having fans from other boards post here so long as the discussions are meaningful. Are we a bit spoiled by the Pats success? Yes. I don't think it means we have a holier than thou attitude though.

Wow, nice post. But why would the Ravens and their fans be influenced by facts?

And I'm bringing up the fact that you are a typical holier than thou boston sports fan.

Try to follow along.

Are you brain damaged? You come here in our boards to spew crap, what is our reaction supposed to be like? Hope all you guys are still hanging around here on Monday.

Do you really mean that?

And you are being obtuse.

You are measuring Lee Evans ability to impact the game based on his stats this season ?

And I thought the Bills were in your division.

Denial is not going to help you. Lee Evans is back from injury and itching to make an impact.. he is actually a pretty good receiver.. trust me.

1.) Evans played in 9 games this season, and started 3. He had one more reception than he had starts. Essentially, he was your Chad Johnson.

2.) Evans has been a declining player since 2008. It's not just one season worth of data. Here are his receiving totals for the past 5 seasons.

87
50
54
32
4

3.) Your trolling still sucks.

Could Evans show up and play a great game? Sure, and so could Chad Johnson. I wouldn't go betting the family home on either proposition, though.

If you want to bring in Cam Cameron's playcalling into the discussion, please do.

I'm sure Ed Reed, Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh have some thoughts of their own on his status for the 2012 season..

The Ravens played a very Physical Game last Sunday i wonder how much that will play in the outcome. I mean we had a Laugher compared to them.

I would not discount that. I agree the Ravens took some hits.

Could very well be a factor.

The thing that gives me hope though is that two of the more physical teams the Pats played they lost to. (Steelers, Giants). Usually the physical team beats the timing driven finesse team.

The Pats have a finesse offense although I'd hardly call Gronk a "finesse" player.

They are not a finesse team.

A helluva lot tougher than last year and 100x tougher than the 2009 squad.

Good to see you acknowledge that the Patriots were the more physical team 6 of the 7 times they have played.
