Bring on the Ravens

Typical Pats fan. Keep living in the past chump.

Really? Have you read your board? Its like 2009 puked all over it and 2010 sits in the corner and is ignored by the masses. :bricks:

Living in the past....unreal. What shall we base our discussion on if not the past?

Yet alot of you point to 2009 and ignore the fact that the 2011 patriots are a completely different team on both sides of the ball.

The Ravens have been living off of that 2000 superbowl forever. My best friend is a Ravens fan and its all he yaps about. Not take anything away from them, they are a good team but c'mon kid.

No kidding. Every year the Ravens are "the" team because of that 2000 Superbowl. They are a great team and definitely can win this game but the only 2 teams that live in the past more than the Ravens are the Cowboys and the Bears, who are the absolute worst.

Good answer. In other words you have no idea why they always lose you just know they are better.

Now I know where Rex Ryan got the idea that you don't actually have to win to be the Champs.

Tell you what sparky, if the Patriots were 1-6 against the Ravens during the Lewis/ Brady era I wouldn't be feeling too hopeful right now.

Rice's 83 yard touchdown runs are a thing of the past. More recently Rice ran 28 times for 88 yards, 3.1 yards a carry with a long of 8.

The Ravens as a whole ran 34 times for 99 yards, 2.9 yards a carry.

New England ran 26 times for 127 yards at 4.9 yards a carry.

Ravens sure did out physical New England in the recent matchup, the matchup that actually has very similar rosters.

16 players on the current NE roster suited up for the 2009 beatdown. As far as the 2010 game we have:

QB Tom Brady

LT Matt Light
LG Dan Connolly (now C, Mankins was holding out)
C Dan Connolly
RT Vollmer possible (more likely Solder)

WR Wes Welker
WR Deion Branch
TE Rob Gronkowski
TE Aaron Hernandez
RB Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis
RB Danny Woodhead

DL Vince Wilfork
DL Gerard Warren
DL Brandon Daedrick

LB Brandon Spikes
LB Jerod Mayo
LB Dane Fletcher
LB Rob Ninkovitch

CB Devin McCourty
CB Kyle Arrington

S Patrick Chung

This isn't counting rotational player, new faces who have improved their position, mostly starters. LG, RG, TE, RB, DL, and LB have all seen upgrades.

Nearly our entire defense that shut the Ravens down for the most part is intact, but I'd consider the front 7 to be playing at a much higher level than last season while the secondary has seen a drop off.

Not predicting a win for either team, but to say Pats fans are living in the past when all I read about on the Ravens forums and from the media is about the 2009 team that had Welker and BJGE inactive, Hernandez and Gronkowski playing for Arizona and Florida, and Sam Aiken starting at WR, you have to question, who is actually living in the past here?

You guys are funny. I thought you'd learn your lesson about talking smack the last time we came into your house.

Does that last game take place in the future and you have come back to tell us about it?

Help me out here: does January 2010 come before or after January 2012?

(Oh, and as Deus already pointed out, the last time you came was in October of 2010 when you lost in OT)

His comment was taken out of context. Typical media

I've heard the comment in the context of the interview. They had it on the radio up here. The context is fine.

RB Danny Woodhead

Also that was Gronk and Hernandez's 6th NFL game, totally different now.

Thats fine. Read into it what you will. It was more of a dig at CC than Flacco. He said they all need to play better this week which is true. And they will.

They played one of the best D's in the league last week now they will play the worst. I like our chances.

So now you admit that it isn't "out of context", right?

Also, by what metric are you calling the Patriots the worst defense (I'm throwing a certain faction here a bone with this one)?

Fair enough. So I guess Gronk's stat line is meaningless too, since we don't know who he faced and what the context was.

I have no problem with that, stop back Sunday and we'll see who had a bigger impact on the game.

I dont know any Ravens fans like that. All the ones I know whine and complain that our current defense isnt as good as that one. Which is a whole nother can of worms, but I dont see any of us thumping our chests about winning a SB over ten years ago.
I mean, the Pats were the best team of the decade, and anyone who says otherwise is full of it, but your biggest accomplishments came a long time ago.

Also that was Gronk and Hernandez's 6th NFL game, totally different now.

There may be some aspects of the 2009 playoff game that can be leveraged for the purposes of assembling a game plan but both teams & curcumstances are drastically different.

It seems to me that the 2010 game is much more relevent to the discussion.

With the exception of Flacco, Boldin and Rice, the Ravens offense has a different set of charaters. Their defense is still very good.

On the other hand, compared to the 2010 squad, the 2011 Pats team are a bit better offensively (WW fully recovered and AH and Gronk seasoned). Their o-line has a little more talent now as well. I also think their defense is a little better than last years.

I still expect the game to be hard fought. Both teams will show up.

Deal.

But first, define "impact the game". Are you talking strictly stats? If Brady avoids Webb (and I'm not saying he will or wont), then I lost that one already.

I don't care about stats. After the game Sunday we will SEE who had a bigger impact on it. I'm guessing it will be Gronkowski.

I will take a moment to shamelessly pat myself on the back and point out post 143 in this thread.

And then see his reply it is comical. I won't give it away. But it speaks volumes about this troll.

No i still disagree with you. If you followed this team you would understand what he was saying. Cam Camereron is a control freak and the oline sucked pretty bad.

I understood exactly what he was saying. It wasn't a matter of being taken out of context. You just flat-out lied about that.

Like I said believe what you want to believe. I'm not going to talk you into believing otherwise.

Just can't wait until my team bounces the cheaters.

I believe that being out of context was not an issue, because being out of context was not an issue, and you were lying about that, as your attempt to massage it demonstrated. I believe you'll be banned from here before game time if you don't smarten up with your posts.

That's what I believe.

This is the most i have looked forward to a game in years, i can't frigging waiit.
