I could understand if the Packers were deeper in Giants territory, but they were basically at mid-field. Why not punt and pin the Giants deep?

Thing is, you're almost always better off going for it. 20-30 yards of field position isn't worth turning the ball over.

They were at the 40. Not saying it was the right call, though, just what his thinking likely was. Maybe the punter sucks knocking inside the 20? If he does and you think a touchback is a good likelihood, you might as well go for it. The sack, though, gave the Giants better field position.
