Semi OT: Anybody a fan of a player?

I know at least most of us are fans of the NEP. And root for whoever is wearing the laundry.

I know some Peyton Manning fans. If Peyton is for a different team next year they will root for his new team instead of the Colts which they have been rooting for.

There are tons of Tim Tebow fans who root for the Broncos because of him, not Broncos fans who root for whoever is behind center. And they most certainly would follow him to another team.

Obviously we had one Randy Moss fan...Tennuh or Tennoth or something like that.

Anybody here a fan of a player? As in if Tom Brady was the QB for the 49ers you would root for the 49ers instead of the NEP.

Way back when I was very young and first started watching football I was a big fan of Jim Brown; I really enjoyed watching him play. I was overjoyed when I bought a pack of football cards and got his card, and cheered for the Browns as well because that was the team he played for.

Since then I can not think of a single team that I ever rooted for because I was a fan of a player. That's not to say that I don't ever enjoy watching a player from another team - Barry Sanders was one that comes to mind, for example - but since then I have never rooted for another team because a player; in fact I don't think it has ever even crossed my mind.

To answer your question, no, I can't imagine rooting for another team even regardless of who might leave the Pats and join another organization.

I am a fan of Tom Brady. If he leaves the Patriots for the Jets, I'll be rooting for the Jets and hating on the Patriots.

But that'll never happen.

The entire town of Knoxville, TN will be a fan of whatever team Peyton plays for. That's a fact.

Thats basically how I see it. I like the Chiefs because of Cassel, and the Saints because of Brees, at kleast when they are not playing the Pats.

I'll be rooting against the Broncos tomorrow 100% because I'm a patriots fan first and foremost.

I got no idea. I'll let you know when the situation comes up.

Bottom line here is that we all want TB to be labeled as the greatest of all time - I want that, you want that, everyone wants that.

If the Patriots trade Brady or whatever happens and he leaves, I'll be rooting for him every time he steps on the field to lengthen his legacy and separate himself from the others.

If and when he plays the Patriots? I'm sure I'll be rooting for the Pats, but if Brady wins....yea, I'll probably sleep ok that night.

As for facing him in the playoffs? I probably won't sleep as well if he beats us.

When I was a kid I was a big fan of Alan Page. Whenever the Vikes were on, everything had to stop. I had a little B&W on the back porch of our 3-decka and I'd sit out there freezing my arse off to watch the Vikes. Then my dad took me to a Pats game to see them play the Vikes and I became a Pats fan.

Now, the only non-Pats player I really like is Calvin Johnson. He's prolly the best player in the league. I also thought Rodney was great even when he played for the Bolts. When the Pats got him, I almost drove off the road.

Definitely, I became a fan of Brees when he beat Peyton in the superbowl, I've been following Rodgers because my roommate is from Wisconsin, and then there are a bunch of players like AP and Foster who I've had on my fantasy teams. I tend to root for underdogs too, it was an awesome season to watch the Lions (though I imagine I wouldn't be saying that if they were actually "my" team.) Tebow is another great one too, I don't care much for religion but it's extremely satisfying to see such a nice guy prove everyone wrong.

Although I'm truly only a diehard fan of the Pats, they will always take priority. IF Brady ever leaves I'll be rooting for him in every game except if it's against us.

MY favorite player of all time is Tedy Bruschi, but since he is retired, my new favorite player is Jerod Mayo. If Mayo leaves, would I not be a Patriots fan anymore?? HELL NO, no matter what I will be a Patriots fan until the day I die!! GO PATRIOTS!!

I'm not racist, seriously, I'm not a racist, but I cheer for white RB's. Toby Gerhart, Peyton Hillis, and of course Danny Woodhead. Woodhead gets extra points for being small and fast, and I'll be a fan of his even after the Patriots release him in 2013, when Vereen surpasses him.

Since all of thoes players have retired, I have actually gravitated towards Aaron Rodgers. While rooting for Favre, I did come to like the Packers as a team as well. Not only that, but despite my fandom of Favre, I did(still do) feel bad for how Rodgers got caught up in the middle.

I rooted for Drew Bledsoe when he went to Buffalo and then Dallas..I just didn't want him to beat the Pats....he didn't except for that 31-0 beating in 2003.
