For the play He made in recovering the lateral and playing to the whistle. That was a very heads up play and it lead to three points.Watching the "Big Man" rumble was a thing of beauty. A Big Big play ! He also controled the center of the line all day! He even appplied some pressure on "Little Chad" ! Just a great effort.

There's a vicious unsubstantiated rumor that Wilfork thought the ball was food and was running off with it

He was immense (in every way!) all game. Must've had seven or eight great bullrushes, plus several excellent run tackles. Mangold is good, but VW just owned him today.

Today was the day I realized what the Pats have in Vince Wilfork. Wright has been solid in his absense, but VW was a force in the center of that line.

I hope he is as disruptive next week.

Wilfork blew up Mangold all game. It was a mismatch.

After the game he said if he'd realized it was a live ball and got to it sooner, he would have been able to score. Went on to say some "little guy" caught him, still didn't know who. Classic old school Middle Guard type player. Glad we have him!

Our newest Running Back.......

How would yoy like to try and tackle this on the goaline? Vince had a great game yesterday, he made some nice stops.

Wilfork's interview was classic....two hours of running later and no touchdown. Made for a good laugh. Great heads-up play by the big guy.

Why is it that seemingly every dropped or tipped pass is scooped up by the defense and they make a fruitless mad dash to the endzone and yet backward laterals just sit there while everyone sits around wondering why the whistle didn't blow?!?

This seriously boggles my mind. I mean, it's not like that's the first time Rosie has tipped a near-lateral pass, don't you think that he'd treat every single one of them like a fumble?!? But no, it didn't even cross his mind.

if he's going to keep hitting qbs when the play's over i expect him to pick up the ball too in yesterday's situation

Good point. Maybe because the frequency of laterals or backward passes is so low defenders just aren't thinking about them, don't recognize them when they happen.

So glad you posted that photo. When I saw it in the paper this am I thought "here's Vince posing for the new version of the Heisman trophy"!!! A tribute to big boys everywhere!!!:rocker:

We could almost feel Big Vince chugging down the sidelines. All that was missing was a steam engine whistle!

I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when he picked it up and started running the lightbulb went off that Rosy had tipped the ball behind the LOS. I didn't feel too bad though considering that Vince said he had looked to the sidelines first when they told him to run with it.

Or even more mind-boggling is the fact that the Jests practice that very play but stood around after the ball was tipped like the play was dead. The fact that a tipped ball behind the LOS is 'live' never came up from the coaches in the practice sessions?

On Vince's running form, he played fullback in H.S. He looked pretty comfortable with the ball, not so much with the running part

I agree. He can't get enough credit for the play but also for the interview afterward. He could have told us how great he was, instead he's laughing at himself. Smart, humble and funny. The Patriot Way.

.

Oh what a visual CT!!!!:rocker: I think this idea should be forwarded to J Kraft so that they can include just that sound effect on a future CD!! Priceless!!!

I laughed out loud at this picture in the paper this morning -- absolutely priceless. Just look at him: ball tucked securely in his outside arm, stiffarm at the ready. And of course his quotes about picking up the ball, gazing toward the end zone and thinking "man, that's far away!"

(Great d-line play all game, too. Washington looked like he ran into a lot of brick walls.)

I wish that CBS woulld have been more on the "ball" in showing what Vince did rather than Roseys reaction to not picking it.

This reminds me of a game I just happend to catch on TV. Jerry Ball of Oakland picked up a fumble and ran it about 50 yards for a TD. It was funnier tha Vinces because Ball was about 6 feet and 335. I never laughed so hard watching. He got into the end zone and collapsed.:singing:
