Dolphins will torch Patriots secondary on Saturday

Lots of confidence in the posts so far. A let down by the Patriots after the circus of last week's win on the road is a very real possibility. The coaching staff has a real task keeping the Patriots focused on an opponent they blew out in week one in Miami.
...
Yeah...
I wonder how they'll manage to get that done.

Moore will probably throw for 330 yards. The Patriots will probably win by 7-13 points. Call it 34-24, Pats.

The defense is lousy. Getting torched wouldn't be a new thing for it.

Patriots gameplan: Bottle up the run game and challenge the QB to beat the turnover generating D. Lots of yards for Matt Moore? Probably. Enough Miami TD's to win the game? I doubt it.

I have a feeling the D makes a stand this weekend, the Dolphins move it some but don't get over 20 points. I foresee the question being asked on Monday (or Sunday in this case) will be whether the Pats good defensive showing is a sign of improvement or just that the Fins offense isn't really that good. BTW, buy wheat; and your special number today is 237,824. You're welcome.:rocker:

Matt Moore can pass for 300+ yards, but means nothing unless he wins..

In a couple of weeks will we remember this??? But there will be another lame brained post trying to compare what Moore did on that Sunday.. while he waits to tee off and we await for our game.

Against Miami at home with the Pats in line to lock up the AFC #1 seed......that is not a trap game IMHO.
I would not be at all surprised if Miami gets 350 yds passing against the Pats secondary (which, earlier in the year in this forum somone characterized as a "dumpster fire"...I love that analogy as it is both accurate and descriptive). But, the way Brady and the offense are playing lately, I dont see Miami getting within 14 points.

I agree with the poster who said Miami is more worrisome than Buffalo. The Bills and their fans have lost interest after a terrific start. The Dolphins have gotten better and have something to prove to someone. It seems like there is veteran leadership on that team that is determined to have a respectable year. Beating the Pats in Foxboro would make their season a success, of sorts.

Someone interpreted the OP as a prediction of 500 yards by Matt Moore. No, but 300 yards passing by Moore is a real possibility combined with a good game by Reggie Bush who has found his role in the run and short passing game. This is their equivalent of a playoff game and guys are playing and coaching for jobs next year either with the Dolphins or elsewhere.

P.S. Nostradamus told me the guy who wants golf clubs for Christmas will get them. Ho Ho Go Pats!

So, what's your point? Are you predicting the Patriots will lose because of the defense? Everyone here knows this potentially could be a very tough game, but the Pats NEED A WIN more than Miami does. The team that NEEDS IT MORE usually wins unless considerably over-matched going in. Last I checked the Dolphins have a nobody as interim head coach, so who is the brainiac that's going to outmaneuver BB with Xs and Os? Or will the Dolphins win solely on superior athletic ability?

Marshall might start for me this week instead of Roddy White. I can see Miami trailing and Matt Moore having to air it out in the 4th quarter.

I wouldn't be suprised if Moore threw for a bunch of yards b/c Henne did. But as others have said - who cares? The Dolphins actually have some pretty good skill players outside of QB but aren't good enough to win.

I think the gameplan will be to stop Bush first. The D has actually had some sucessful taking away an offense's 1st option (SD game where Gates had 0 catches comes to mind). Marshall will get his (probably due to bad safety play and PatsFans will blame the cb's) b/c of this but it won't be enough.

Also, no one's mentioned it so I'll add this: The Lolphins suck in Foxboro in December.

If Moore does throw for 300 yards against the Pats it will most likely be why Tebow, Orlovsky, Young, Henne, Campbell, and Sanchez had so many passing yards against the Pats. It will most likely be that the Pats have an insurmountable lead in the 4th and Moore gets a lot of garbage time yards.

People look at the final stat sheet and not the games. Most of the QBs who have had "career days" against the Pats really only got the opportunity to look good on the stat sheet because the Pats took the foot off the gas. The Pats' don't have a great pass defense, but their defense looks far statistically worse because they are consistently protecting three and four score leads in the fourth quarter.

It works both ways. The defense also benefits greatly from having an offense that can sustain long drives & keep opposing offenses off of the field.

why are you making Matt Moore out to be playing so great? This is his stats:

Buffalo Bills - 160 yards passing

Cowboys - 288 yards passing

Oakland - 162 yards passing

Eagles - 95 yards passing

Bills - 217 yards passing

Why all of a sudden is Matt Moore going to throw for 500 yards us, again?

Because the Patriots have the worst passing defense in the league. I'd throw against them...run some to set up play action....throw more. Honestly, If I saw Sergio Brown on the field playing safety - I would throw to that area all the time. He's THAT bad. The Phins will score their points, the Patriots will have to score more (duh) and they are capable of doing just that. However, I would not be surprised if they lose this game either. No NFL team out there is dominant. Any team can win or lose on any given Sunday.

Sorry, I don't see this happening. Sure, they will score, but not nearly enough to win or come close in this game. Brady is healthy, motivated and pizzed. this team is motivated also. This is one game. Next week, another game. ........ The fish had some decent games yes against teams that had mediocher games, but this game, thier playing US ! Im seeing high 30s to low 40s in this one :rocker: And NOT by the fish :singing:

11-3 isn't "dominant" to you? Yes, "any given Sunday..." yada, yada...but the facts are plain for all to see. and the fact is, the Patriots consistently win on Sunday, Monday or even....Saturday.

Green Bay is "dominant" too - but you saw what happened to them Sunday, right?

I take nothing for granted - and this year it's anyone's SB. I seriously do not see clear leader.

Green Bay? GREAT Offense, suspect D. No run game to speak of.

Saints? GREAT Offense, decent defense....it's a dome team tho and the path may not be so domey this time around...

Jets? Great secondary, under-utilized offense...maybe they make another run? Maybe not.?

Texans? Yates in the post season? Maybe? Doubtful.

Cowboys? Tony Romo - 'nuff said.

Giants? Good enough to win it all, bad enough to fall flat on their faces.

Eagles? Could provide match-up nightmares - could choke so bad you want to perform cpr on the flat screen.

Broncos? With an option QB?

Lions? Can an immature team win it all?

Falcons? Matt Ice-melt.

Pittsburgh? Great team - but if the Rapist is off, the whole team is. High ankle sprain = off.

Ravens: Hello jekle and hyde! Flacco blows. GREAT D - usually.

San Francisco? Great D. Run game....Alex Smith? Meh.

How do you not charge us for analysis like this?

Pats.....38
Fish......24

Come to think of it, though, by that logic, shouldn't we expect at least one 50+-yard TD from Welkah?
