Patriots announce 5 players downgraded to out: Patrick Chung, Shane Vereen, Brandon Spikes, Sebastian Vollmer & Deion Branch

The only other WR on our roster besides Welker has been downgraded to OUT for tomorrows game.

Should be interesting. This is the perfect opportunity for someone to step up and prove they belong here (at least on the offensive side of the ball, Edelman has solidified his place on ST/nickle/dime CB).

Ocho has had his chance, Edelman cannot crack the WR line-up, so I figure it'll be Underwood.

We moved the ball without Hernandez for a few games, we can do it without Branch, too.

Edelman primarily backs up our only healthy WR this year. He is somewhat a redundancy being on the field at the same time as Welker, I'd assume the team wants a different skill set that compliments Welker and helps him get open.

Edelman has also added extra value by playing defense and being a pretty good PR, the team might simply not want to risk injury when our secondary is so destroyed already.]]

Edit: I agree about Ocho. Underwood replaced him in the no huddle last week, I too figure we'll see more of him. Maybe a two or three way rotation with a bigger dose of Underwood.

I see Edelman playing a bigger role on defense seeing as he is probably the best tackler in the secondary, he is the only one who arm tackles back there instead of doing the ******ed flying shoulder.

It is time for Tiquan or Ocho to step up!

I really hope its Tiquan, he seems to atleast understand the offense.

This isn't great news for usage of the no-huddle though, now that I think about it. Branch always a key player in that package.

A big dose of Welker, Hernandez and Gronkowski seems more in order. A bigger dose of Faulk and Woodhead in the passing game would be a good thing. That's five options before we need to go to Ochocinco, Underwood, or Edelman. BTW, why no mention of Slater? He seems as much of a threat downfield as Edelman.

My question is how often will Solder be lined up as a TE, with Hernandez as a wideout.

Aargh - come back Spikes!

I hope Ocho gets tons of snaps. I think he has improved (in the few snaps he gets) from the beginning of the season. I think it's sink or swim time and find out what they really have in him and how he fits in the system. You would think they would cut him (like Haynesworth) if he wasn't showing anything in practice. Time to give him lots of plays tomorrow!

If Ocho 'has had his chance' and therefore is not an option he would be unemployed.
I think you will see some of all 3, but my guess is 85 gets the most reps and targets after Welker, Gronk and Hernandez.

Hey, what the eff do I know, but I think there's a decent chance that Edelman is employed as the spy defensively on Jesus. That leaves Underwood and Ocho. Honestly, if I had to place a bet, it'd be on Tiquan.

Can see any of these scenarios play out. My guess would be Underwood as the main option - but who knows ? Maybe it ends up being Woodhead : he starts in the backfield, splits wide, and ends up being more of a passing option for this game.

Regardless of who is out there : I agree with posters stating it'll be more about Welker and the TEs tomorrow. In fact, Hernandez might be the key guy if Welker and Gronk get extra attention.

Is he employed? I hadn't noticed.

I see Edelman, Mayo, or Guyton as the spy. They are probably the only non-DB's fast enough to spy Tebow. Maybe Anderson? He's played LB/DE hybrid like Ninko. Not sure if he's THAT fast though.

Tebow doesn't have Newton speed, but he's faster than most LB's and nearly as big.

Those three names strike fear into the hearts of men!!! Edelman! Ochocinco! and Eraserhead!!!!!!!! I can only imagine the late night cramming by Denver's defensive staff trying to find a way to stop these dominating offensive forces of our NE Patriots. Underwood is going to be downright BEASTLY in mile high tomorrow....I can feel it....Oh yeah.....Tebow will be saying many prayers trying to find an answer for this kind of amazing, unworldly power!!! ! WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! GO PATS!

Here are some encouraging stats that might bode well for your prediction.

In the 4 games Ocho has played against the Denver Broncos, lifetime:

Rec: 21
Yds: 365
Y/G: 91.3 (There are only 5 teams he has a better Y/G against.)
Avg: 17.4
Lng: 50
TD: 2

Not exactly HOF stats, but not bad either. And I know some of those Denver games go back a ways.. Just thought I'd add a little historical perspective.

You don't have to say prayers when you're God. They pray to you.
