That is all well and good that he take care of his finanxial future..Does the end justify the means?...That he did it like a turd is hardly a good example of anything good....I would have had no problem with him if he honored his contract and then left.. BUT to me he did it the wromg way totally..he may ta;l a;; that good about Seattle and such, but uf dioesn'y live up to the bpatload of money paid, it will not be good for him.

That's it....right there, in life there is a right way and wrong way to do things. He screwed his former teammates, organization and fans. Had he done it the right way, he would have left with all due respect of those he screwed.

Amen.

This one is all on Meion.

I don't blame the Pats for this one, they had no reason to believe he wouldn't show up and play.

I have no use for Meion anymore. He did screw everyone he claimed was important to him, all because he couldn't wait one year for his $, which the Pats were going to give him.

Good riddance Meion.

The truth is that the Patriots are no longer a great team. They began

to slip in 2005 when they lost Ty Law, David Patten, Ted Johnson, and

Roman Phifer. The downward spiral continued in 2006 with the loss of

Deon Branch, David Givens, and Willie McGinest. I expect the trend to

continue in 2007 and they will lose TBC, Daniel Graham and Asante

Samuel. If the Patriots do not come up with some competent

replacements, they will not be able to use the excuse any longer

that they have salary cap problems.

10-4, likely playoff bound again

ho hum

if they are not a great team, then there are no great teams in the NFL

And the downward spiral for YOU began when YOU lost your sanity many, many years ago.

Either this post was a joke or you need to seek brain replacement therapy.

A TROLL?

Because I seek to ask legitimate questions about how BB/SP are operating this year?

I can assure you I am a big Patriots fann dating back to 1970, probably before many of you were born.

Don't attack people out here for starting a dialogue.....\

To blindly applaud everyhting the Patriots do without ever questioning is NOT being a fan...its just dumb.

Unfortunately for you, You make an assinine assumption that people here blindly applaud everything the Patriots do without ever questioning it. You also show that you can't be bothered to read many of the threads already ON here nor can you be bothered to do some research before you post something. If you had, you probably would come across as someone who has been following the Pats since 1970 and not someone who may or may not even be a fan.

http//www.patscap.com

That site is probably the most in depth salary cap web site you can find and Miguel is usually within a couple 100 K of being correct.

Regarding the cap money, you ignored that they extended Koppen.

You ignored many pertinent issues that occured during the Branch situation.

You also ignored such issues as the Pats making a very good attempt sign Ty Law.

So, before getting an attitude, how about taking a step back and seeing when you made your mistakes.

This place has of the most intelligent and informed fans in all of football. And when you come in making uninformed statements, you are going to get torn to shreds.

With posts like this I would cut you from the practice squad. All teams turn over year after year. I would imagine if you were to compare Patriot roster to that of the rest of the league since 2000 - I bet we have More not less stability.

No question it is time to get some younger Lb's into the system (as they have done all along with Vrabel Colvin & TBC, vets & rookies). And of course it is time to get a veteran WR or two to go along with the developing ChadJack.

What more than + 10 win seasons and trips through the playoffs leading up to Superbowls could you possibly ask for??? Is there any team that has had more success than My (not your) New England Patriots this decade??

Try living in Detroit, you could go to the game and get home before it ends as they walk out in mass in protest at halftime.

But - this team is always about change and almost always it is for the better.

Ever hear of NFL = Not for Long.

The "conspracy theory" drivel is ridiculous.

I am not a troll.....BUT even if I were what difference does it make?

Why not just focus on discussing ideas and NOT attack the posters every time anyone says something that is even slightly out of the main line of thinking.

People have discussed your post. You've chosen to ignore it. That is normal of someone who is a troll of just has their head up their arse and wanted to start trouble.

My sole goal in posting is to stimulate discussion of ideas...NOT to provoke or insult anyone...so how about just discuss the ideas and forget about the idiotic "THIS GUY IS A TROLL" drivel. This board shines when posters can just discuss rationally and stay away from the ridiculous "HE IS NOT ONE OF US" crap.

What you misses is that this topic has been discussed ad nauseum. As I said, you missed TONS of pertinent facts.

The only other alternative would have been to let Branch run his holdout until Week 10 and then show up for the last 6 games + playoffs... I'm sure it would have done wonders for the locker room.

In truth the only party that comes off looking 'dumb' is the Seattle Seahawks. They gave up a 1st-rounder and a mega-contract for essentially a #2 receiver (in their system) whose production is on par with Joe Jurevicius' of 2005 - who happened to sign a deal worth half as much with Cleveland.

I agree with your idea, but you need to cut Branch's skills some slack (respect the skill not the idiot). You cannot compare his stats this year to JJ's in 2005 because this was DB's first year in the system and he was not in the Seattle training camp. He had to pick up the playbook cold turkey. That is tough no matter who you are. Again, I am talking about his skilled position, not character. I hope you are not implying that DB's skill level is equal to that of JJ's. That would be silly.

Second, Jackson's contract is coming to an end. Branch very well could be their #1 in the future. Seattle may not want Jackson back due to his age, health, and $ amount. They would still have a very quick WR group in Branch, Burleson, and Engram. Very solid.

Who called Hasselbach and told him that Branch is a great receiver? I think his nam was Tom Brady???

Trades like this cannot be judeged upon a one season. The valid method of trade analysis will take place in 3-5 years when our draft pick matures and Branch gets used to the system.
