That didn't take long. According to 98.5 Butler was picked off the waivers by Carolina.

The rate at which others are snapping up our players, this has to be some kind of record

well maybe he can play Quarterback b/c Cam Newton was a WASTE of a pick. Cam going 1 overall was an absolute JOKE

so if Carolina finishes last this yr. do they take Andrew Luck? They really missed the boat on that.

Andrew'sv agent really Phucked up!!! the dude should have entered well before the Slotted Draft picks. They all got overpaid anyways. I have no sympathy.

His agent REALLY phucked up

Well, he doesn't have an agent. If he did, he wouldn't be a college player since it's illegal.

But you don't need to worry about him. He'll have a Stanford degree and his Dad is an Athletic director at a BCS school.

I'll admit I don't know Andrew's situation very well, but wouldn't it be impossible for him to do that? He's going into his senior year right, so the earliest he could have declared was this past draft, which had the rookie cap in place anyway. Am I missing something?

Back on topic, good luck to Butler. That team is awful.

FOX announcers on opening game AZ v CAR:

"Amazing how Cardinal QB Kevin Kolb has thrown all 15 first half passes against Panther's CB Darius Butler. Good thing he has, as the 13 completions and 2 Butler interference calls have them on auto-pilot for the second half..."

13 of them! Absolutely incredible.

Do we even have a game this year where the opposing team does not have a former Patriot on it?

The only one I think is 'Patriot-Free' is the Steelers

Its weird that they rarily show interest in former Pats

I'd just like to say "thank you and good luck" to Darius Butler. He carried himself with class during what must have been a very painful couple of days.

No offence to Butler but it was a painful couple of years with him on the field. I can't help but associate the words cushion and completion with Butler. We tried to love him but there's only so long you can tolerate non-elite performance in a critical position.

Four teams actually put in claims for him. I guess the league is 'wising up' to BB's ways. Nobody wants to give him a draft pick lol.

with the new rookie salary cap it's going to be hard to find teams that will give up draft picks for average players

I'm actually a fan of BB's overall draft strategy (trading down, etc), but I never felt he had a reputation for stealing draft picks for players. Branch for a 1 turned out decent for us given Branch's injury problems in Seattle, and Moss for a 3 was a steal in hindsight (though that is more on Minnesota being terrible IMO).

But Seymour for a 1 was the minimum you should get for an impact guy like him, and what's left after that? Hobbs for a couple 5ths? Didn't really impact either team that much. Dave Thomas for a 7th? Benefit the Saints way more than us.

BB ends up with extra draft picks because of his trade down strategy. When he sends players away for picks there aren't too many steals that other teams could have "wised up" to.

I should add Maroney for a 4th. THAT was a steal
