The improved Offensive Line

offensive line improved once ohrnberger went on IR and they got waters. waters steps off the street to become the best interior OL, better than mankins most likely.

Are you serious? I mean really?

I have to say that Solder seems like a DAY1 bust to me. Guy is awful,, is slow, poor tecnique... Only Scar can turn this situation.

But let me say that we have an way below average OL.

Then you think there are well over 16 OL that are better.

Would you care to share which they are?

My take is that we have an elite G in Mankins, a way above average RT in Vollmer, an average LT in Light (he's not that far below where he was when he made the Pro Bowl), an average C in Koppen (ditto), and perhaps ditto in Waters at RG.

Reserves are averageish as a group.

Basically, every starter is a Pro Bowler or All-Pro; although three have aged and aren't likely candidates to repeat -- more precisely not to DESERVEDLY repeat -- none has had a major career-altering injury that I'm aware of since his Pro Bowl days.

I hope you are correct sir about Waters being better than Mankins.
I'm VERY pumped about this years team, but the Detroit game gave me flashbacks of several games since our last SB visit with the O-line collapsing on top of Tommy.
Waters obviously was one of the best LEFT guards but the last few years have not been his best. If Waters comes in good shape and makes the transition to RG well I'm sure he will be an upgrade over Connolly.

Celebrating Labor Day pretty heavily I take it?

Yes. I see AlgeC coming back very soon. He had shoulder surgery, and needs to heal.

But I'm sure that BillB said to AlgeC, "Go and heal, we will cut you now, but, we will get you back in once you are better..."

I also think AlgeC wants to come back to Patriots, as well..

Assuming we bring him back, he may be eligible for the $1m credit on older players. I'm not sure how it works but I think he'd be inexpensive. Ditto on Waters (at least in year 1).

I was polite and just give my opinion. Some of you are sooo homers.

Why is that every time some idiot is called out for a really stupid post, they resort to the "homer"?

People are making fun of you because your opinions are stupid. If other posters are homers, they are still miles ahead of your ideas.

The playoff loss was in part, according to Ellis, because the Jests had figured out our line calls and thus had an advantage. I don't know how much of an advantage that it but Ellis seems to think it was. Seems like a bit of progress could be made by fixing that problem.

Simkin, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

++ for movie quotes. LMAO! Easily one of the best replies I've read in a while!

Reiss is tweeting that Connolly and Wendell are back at practice today, but Vollmer is not.

Which is why I'm glad they brought in Waters as opposed to Guroude, who doesn't strike me as being overly bright (plus his history with Haynesworth might have been considered), or someone with less experience but perhaps more upside. You need a smart guy with vast experience to plug that hole right now. At this late juncture you can't put in a green player who might struggle in picking up blocking assignments and getting in sync with the rest of the line.

From what I've heard about him, seems like we were kind of lucky that he was available. Sure hope he works out. O-line needs to be rock solid this year because there are significant question marks about all the other units.

That's news to me, is any one able to post a kink on this?

I'm not calling BS, just saying I had;t heard that.

Random by me-

well guess what at least we don't have "Vlad I am a turnstile" Duccase he isn't on our line

you won't handle our O-line this year--> I look forward to having a nearly impenetrable WALL surrounding. by the time we play you Jesters so much will have been earned through experience

IF the Jets figured out the line calls, that would be the 2nd playoff game in 2 years where the opposition has learnt the Patriots line calls.

Multiple times during the Ravens game Nantz was telling the viewers Ray Lewis got audio of every Patriots play that year and figured out what each call meant.

now you know what its like to try to reason with Ray Ray 19...:violent:

Sigh.

Solder is a massive LT that converted from TE to T from Colorado. This shortened off-season has delayed his progress and the guy is our Swing Tackle for know.
What will you guys do when Cannon comes off of PUP he too is way more Massive than Vlad. Cannon can play both G and T like Vlad. This year will be fun. I suspect Cannon will be active after his PUP stint. Solder will just get better and better w/ experience had. Solder is very RAW much like Vollmer and we all know how Vollmer turned out Give Solder a little time and we won't be surprised if he becomes the starting LT by the end of the year. We are far better off than you in terms of O-Line Talent and in OVERALL depth it is disgusting
